  1. Correction; home opener is not until game 7. Still think that is how it starts out though, or something like that.
  2. Here is how I hope/see it lining up for the start of the season: 1. Kremer (they'll want to start with one of their own) 2. Free Agent (Bassitt/Taillon/Walker/Rodon?) 3. Bradish 4. Rodriguez (starts home opener) 5. Gibson Wells and Voth as swing guys in the pen.
  3. Good to see. Hopefully this means its just a depth signing, not someone who they actually intend to give at bats to.
  4. The Orioles have a lot more work to do this offseason lol. a LOT.
  5. Fair enough. I am okay with it as depth move. Really depends how they see this.
  6. I guess a lot of us (myself included) don't fully understand the meaning of it being a split contract.
  7. I'd be incredibly disappointed if this is one of the two bats Elias was referring to. But you might be right.
  8. Certainly not an exciting signing. Has some pop. I'm okay with him as a spot starter like Nevin was last year, but this better not be them filling the Aguilar/Mancini hole.
  9. Fine as a bench bat I suppose - really hoping they aren't expecting regular at bats for him. Also, kind of redundant with Diaz? https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cordefr02.shtml
  10. Not saying you're wrong, but would be pretty pathetic if that scares them off from signing a top starter.
  11. I don't hate it WietersCorner, but am not that excited about "upgrading" the rotation with 2 of those 3. Really want Lopez or Bassitt, at least.
  12. I disagree. While it did not directly state that we would be spending, it seemed to mean that we would be "lifting off,' i.e. trying to win next year, i.e. bringing in players to reach that goal.
  13. What do you consider "lavishly? Aside from Correa, Verlander deGrom, and Rodon, none of those players require "lavish" spending in today's market.
  14. Again, they should be trading players AND signing free agents. They should not foreclose any avenues to improve the team. And frankly, I could not care less that they are crying about being a "small market team" now. They have spent money in the past, they have a low payroll, and they can and should spend money to improve the team now.
  15. The entire, 25 man roster should be home grown and making the minimum. The poor Angeloses should be able to spend as little as possible and keep as much as they can. That's what's important to fans, not the Orioles themselves.
  16. But wouldn't you rather take that chance than spend any of the Angelos's money? I mean, it's their money! What do you expect, them to spend it to make the team better?
  17. I don't mean that as anything personal. But you are way too optimistic and assuming that everyone will perform as well, or better, than last year. I would not count on Kremer, Bradish, Wells, and Voth all pitching well and locking down spots in the rotation. And yes, we should trade some outfielders. But why are you so against spending money on free agents? We have one of the lowest payrolls in the majors. This is EXACTLY what a successful rebuild looks like - having a cheap, young core, and supplementing it with veterans via free agency and trade. That's what they need to do. Thankfully, I think Elias agrees. And unless you are an Angelos and your personal dollars would be going to these players, I cannot imagine why you are against that.
  18. I'm not saying give out awful contracts like the one they gave to Davis (which I was against at the time), but you can sign free agents and have success. You should be looking to upgrade the roster however possible. Not going after free agents is as short sighted as not participating in the international market was. And how much $$ do they have? I don't care. Elias said it is liftoff this year and they will be trying to add major league players via free agency to improve the team, so they should be doing that.
  19. Bassitt is my favorite of the non-Verlander, deGrom, and Rodon group.
  20. Of course you will. Much better that the Angeloses keep the money for themselves.
