  1. It is soooooo unfortunate they did not get another lockdown guy like Hader or someone cause this bullpen is not going to beat Houston in playoffs it reminds me of the difference between us and Detroit in 2014 LDS when their bullpen just blewup all the time and we had Oday , Miller, Zach This win was completely nerve wracking
  2. Wild pitch always helps .. if Felix blows this it is going to be reallly bad
  3. Cowser is pressing, in his head, and damaging his confidence is not productive.
  4. This is how it looks .. streaks end when you lose a game you should win 99/100 times.
  5. When you walk the guy this is what happens.. if he hits same home run to tie it then we play on .. no playoff team has any better closer so their closer in playoff is more likely to fail than Felix
  6. I guess my question is more related to whether or not data is being collected rather than stories
  7. No need for biometrics.. there is a strike zone in the pen and ways to assess if he is hitting it and at what speed etc If those metrics are fine, then his performance blows up , then that is more evidence for performance anxiety But if he just loses his slot and can’t find the plate in the bullpen then other options need to warm up because he isn’t going to find it in the pressure cooker
  8. I doubt he is, but would like to see it. He is a special talent and baseball makeup way beyond his chronological age. I do not think it will happen but it might and it certainly would not harm him to be part of a division winning year
  9. I wonder what data analytics are currently applied to bullpen sessions that then may correlate with increase in meltdown risk. in the old days, the BP coach would call the manager and say “so and so ain’t got nothing today”
  10. You would think with the data capabilities now employed that they would be measuring his bullpen pitches-velo, location, spin etf and have a database of his that correlates with an increased meltdown risk.
  11. Would warming up enable Hyde to know which Fuji ? As it is a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde thing? (See how I did that? Lol )
  12. The Angelos Peter and now John have always, always had a huge chip on their shoulder about the media. And have always viewed the announcers and MASN writers and PR staff as their employees only who do what they are told or get canned. We all saw this play out previously and it is the same MO.. “loyalty “ is a one way street ONLY going to the Angelos. It is sad, because if you Google “Orioles” this morning and the “News” search, EVERY single story in all the national media is about this nonsense and the Angelos are being rightly pilloried .. again and the organization is being pitied again despite the winning. Self inflicted PR wounds by headstrong, argumentative and foolish CEOs is not news but so unnecessary.
  13. I agree with all of this … and as we all agree Peter Angelos is very dysfunctional as owner and this was another example. My only caveat with Duquette though is he absolutely had to know that contacting and getting information/offer from Toronto would without doubt end any semblance of influence with his owner. Which was not much at the time anyway. I mean no one here on this board and certainly Duquette could not have thought .. “Oh Peter will just wish me well and recognize it’s a better opportunity for me.” No, he knew what was going to happen but perhaps thought maybe Peter WOULD fire him ..which actually would have been better for the team and for Duquette given that offseason was totally sacrificed due to the conflict and the rest of his tenure. I do not blame Duquette much although I think he had to know Peter would go off. I don’t think he realized how dysfunctional Peter would act though.. until it was too late.
  14. Not the way I recall it. The contact was more extensive BEFORE Angelos found out .. and Duquette knew he would go ballistic when he did and probably hoped he would fire him/let him go. But Angelos put the screws to him. And DD then became a GM with zero influence or relationship with the owner during one of the most critical offseasons in Orioles history. And ZERO got added to the team as a result of this distraction and the self inflicted damage to their relationship. Did Duquette actually think Peter would just go “oh sure, it’s a good move for you and your family.. God speed”? . No, Duquette knew as soon as he started negotiating with Toronto that it was likely going to fatally damage any relationship he had with Angelos much less it getting to the point of a done deal if Angelos had agreed.
  15. As Tony Soprano once said they have the King Midas touch in reverse.. everything they touch turns to s**t”
  16. Technically it was a President of Baseball Operations position thus a step up, but still he handled it terribly and it totally ruined whatever influence or relationship he had with the owner
  17. Him jumping up over the CF fence at Bowie to rob hr off Wells was prettty athletic move
  18. Buck yes. Duquette no .. his Toronto dalliance kills any further thought
  19. I was in the upper deck with my now ex brother in law for game 2 of the Series .. i had just started my residency at Hopkins that summer and was living In Linthicum. Mike Boddicker was so on that game. He had everything working and Os evened the Series 1-1.
