  1. What happens if we finish with the same exact record as the Marlins? Who gets the #2 pick? I don't think the Marlins will win another game this year.
  2. I'm ready for this nightmare to end. Here's my dark take. It's hard for me to believe that Chris Davis wasn't doing some kind of performance enhancing substance in order to get his big contract. If he stopped doing the enhancer, whatever it was, then he's just stealing at this point. He's made enough money off the contract. Just come to some sort of agreement with club. Yes. No one likes to suck at their job. And if it were me, I would quit and do something else. I'm just kind of pissed at Davis. No, I was not complaining when he was putting up Oriole record numbers. But the whole thing sucks and I think he sucks. And that's it.
  3. Love Ben McDonald as the color guy! Love!
  4. Agreed. Hays is the OD centerfielder right now. Love the guy. He almost plays too hard. I'm afraid he's going to get hurt. Love it though.
  5. LOL. My guys. Their biggest contribution to the team this year has been draft positioning!
  6. In my opinion, yes they have. I expect the OD starting OF to be Santander in RF, Hayes in CF, and Stewart in LF. I expect Mancini at 1B. The 4th OF will be Mason Williams or someone like him. A guy who can play all over out there. And there will be a super utility guy that can be put in the OF in an emergency.
  7. I will not rest easy until the Orioles have secured the #2 pick. As far as I am concerned, it was a job well done by our atrocious bullpen! At this point in the season, there is no good reason that we should have any other priority than getting the #2 pick.
  8. Santander has changed everything. If he was struggling, we'd would be much more pessimistic. Now, all of a sudden, we have a switch-hitting RF with power, which allows us to play Stewart in LF. Hays sure looked good last night. He looks the part -- fast, strong. I don't think Mullins will be anything, but I actually wonder if Mason Williams might be a 4th OF. And productive 4th OF that can play in a platoon are not that hard to find. Santander has changed everything in the OF. Just hope it isn't a 1-year wonder.
  9. I believe the band aid will come off next year in spring training. I think CD will have one final offseason to visit a shaman and find some sort of rejuvenation machine. If he is the same CD in Sarasota, he gone.
  10. Davis's play and nonchalance are embarrassing. I have zero problems with calling him out ... in the dugout... on the field... in the clubhouse... in the manager's office. The manager is allowed to call out the player and try to motivate the player. It's simple: don't act nonchalant and you won't get called out. I personally think Hyde has done a great job this entire season. I've started to really like the guy.
  11. Maybe Hyde is trying to motivate Davis? There’s been so much, “oh, he’s trying so hard” stuff. Definitely time for a different approach. I think Earl would approve.
  12. I like this take. Could Rondon be an upgrade over Martin? I think the answer is definitely maybe. He was worth the pickup. If the front office wants to give Stewart a shot, they can get rid of Jace or DFA Smith and hope he slips through. I'm surprised we haven't done one of these, but the team has been playing well. We have had pretty good success with Venezuelans on this team btw -- Santander and Nunez.
  13. 1-- Interested to see the continued development of the starting pitching. Is Wojo real? How many innings with Bundy pitch? Will Means come back and how many innings will he pitch? Who will be brought up from AAA or AA. 2-- Santander. Is he real? Is there a ML starter there? Same with the catchers. 3-- Richie Martin. Will he adjust? I know many folks have given up on him. I have not.
  14. Martin's July totals: .233 AVG, .283 OBP, .302 SLG, .585 OPS I mean. It's not ideal, but it's improving. Can I see .250, 300 OBP, and 650 OPS next year? If I put on my Kool-aid glasses, yes.
  15. This. Once I saw him warming up, I stayed up to watch. Blah. Middling is the word I'd use. He could be a middle relief guy -- Ynoa type. If you're going to be a dominant reliever though, you have to have 1 dominant pitch. He doesn't. FB is good not great. Slider is good, not great. So... he's got some work to do if he wants to stick, imo.
  16. I like the DFA threads.
  17. Rich Hill was 1 year, 6 mill: https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/athletics/free-agent-signing-anniversary-starting-pitcher-rich-hill
  18. Will Asher be a free agent at the end of the season no matter what? I remember when Rich Hill came back and was lights out the last 2 months of the season. I think he got a 2-year, 10 million deal from the As and was worth every penny. I wonder what the Os are thinking re: Asher. Hmmm... filler or find?
  19. Has Sedlock regained "prospect" status? I watched one video of him. FB looked really really straight and not overpowering. The change up looked good. The results on paper look good. Upon watching him, my first thought was "reliever" the majors. Just looks like alot of effort to get what velocity he does. One fan's untrained eye.
  20. Yeah. I don't think Elias wants organizational filler type guys. He's looking for home run talents. I expect low A ball prospects or DSL dudes coming back in almost any trade we do.

    Alex Wells 2019

Wells has been unreal -- only 2 HRs allowed and that WHIP. Last year in A-ball, he gave up 1 HR per every 7 innings. This year in AA, 1 HR per every 43 innings. I wonder what's changed? Just sample size and chance? Seems unlikely.
  22. I watched 2 Cadyn Grenier games in college after we drafted him and I immediately thought... "This guy is nothing special. Why did we spend a 2nd round pick on him." Just one fan's naked eye take. I was also a guy who talked about how by my naked eye, Mike Wright had good stuff. So, I'm obviously no incredible scout.
  23. There are always good glove, no-hit infielders around. For example, the Orioles could have had Jose Iglesias this past off-season, but we deemed him to expensive I think ($2.5m) and too old (29). I don't think there is a major impetus to put a team that will finish higher in the standings on the field. The team is looking for diamonds in the rough that are young and super cheap. Hence, Martin. I have no problem with the team's approach. What difference would Iglesias really make on a team like the Orioles? Would we be one game better if we had him over Martin? I would like to see Martin show some improvement. The light could easily go on in August or September.
  24. I don't understand why general admission to say 6 sections in the upper deck is not $5. Why? There are folks who would walk up for $5. The current low price of $15 is not cheap enough. To me, they really are not encouraging folks to come to the ball game at $15. The team's fan policies have long been a mystery to me though, so... .
