  1. (Reposted from 2018 thread) High school for me. I made my varsity team as a freshmen and played four years of varsity ball. I rode the bench my freshman season but started the final three years. I capped it off by being named MVP my senior season. But I had no illusions because I didn't have the body frame to advance from there. I did have the privilege of playing against some outstanding talent in high school. Lou Whitaker (Detroit Tigers) was in our league. As was Roy Clark (AAA for Seattle until injuries ended his career). Talmadge Tanks was signed by Kansas City. Jeff Musser led the ACC in hitting for Virginia. Several other really good talents.
  2. Oh, and I forgot to mention I saw four 20 game winners the SAME season!
  3. When I read something like this it makes me realize how lucky I am to have witnessed the things I have in my life time. I'm telling my age but I've seen many great accomplishments by the Orioles through the years. I saw Frank Robinson win the triple crown. I saw no-hitters by Tom Phoebus and Jim Palmer. I saw the team win 108 games one year and 109 games one year. I saw an Oriole pitcher win the Cy Young award six times in a 12 year span. I've seen some of the greatest fielders in the history of the game in Brooks Robinson, Mark Belanger, and Jim Palmer. I've seen six rookies of the year and five American League MVP's and the list goes on and on. I guess the only thing I haven't seen is a perfect game.
  4. Not rained out in my sim on OOTP. Jose Rondon hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the 10th for an O's victory! We're in first place (with me managing LOL) at 3-1.
  5. I guess one that comes to mind for me is the first game in Camden Yards where Rick Sutcliffe threw a shutout.
  6. Heaven help us if this entire season is cancelled. But if it is, I wonder how they'll determine the draft order for 2021? Anyone care to guess? Go by the same draft order for 2020? In that case I guess the Tigers take Kumar Rocker and the Orioles take Nander De Sedas. Of course a lot could change by then.
  7. Nick Gonzales is off to a fantastic start - 8 for 14 with 4 home runs and 6 walks. He's currently projected 4th in most mock drafts but he could certainly move up if he keeps this up.
  8. Luke, I haven't interacted with you because I'm mainly just a lurker here. But I do want you to know that I've thoroughly enjoyed your amazing insights and I'm extremely happy for you and wish you all the best!

    Uh-Oh

I'm more worried about Detroit myself. They're only 5 ahead and they are -149 in run differential whereas KC is only -66.
  10. Gee, we still get no respect. We now have the third best record in baseball, we're playing at home where we have won eight of our last ten games, we're going against a pitcher (Garrett Richards) who allowed a career high seven runs the only time he's ever faced us, and we're still the underdogs for a second straight night.
  11. We've got our "easy schedule" ahead of us also. We play 26 consecutive games against teams currently .500 or below from August 15 through September 10.
