  1. Holliday looks completely overrated at the moment. I'm happy to wait for him to emerge, and I think he will, but he doesn't look ready for the bigs on April 12. Maybe July 12th.
  2. Our batters are what you call, "mistake hitters." They can clobber batting practice balls, but if their pitchers are playing good movement or deception, they'll be lights out against us. Combine that with the fact that the Boston bullpen is bad, and there's your sweep. Unfortunately, I think the Brewers have a much better pen than the Red Sox.
  3. The real question is, is the Milwaukee pen any good? Our batters can obliterate bad pitchers - see Campbell, last night - but any competent pitching sits us down. If they can pitch 9 innings of effective ball, 3 runs is plenty to beat us with.
  4. It's gonna be a long game with their pitcher doing no wrong and our pitcher doing nothing right.
  5. Wish I could hear this. They usually trim postgame chatter from the MLB feed and I don't think I have whatever channels or radio stations you are listening to local to Boston (I'm assuming). I enjoy it when broadcasters go all sour apples.
  6. I didn't know Jim Rice was a broadcaster.
  7. Good points. And we just completed a winning road trip. They're gutting out some tough wins without their best. Just imagine what these hitters are going to do when it warms up in June and July, boy oh boy.
  8. Campbell is to Red Sox as Baumann is to Orioles. Let's hope he gets some lucky outs.
  9. Holliday is still the safer bet, but I can completely understand how someone would think about Cowser's chances at this point.
  10. I would trade a player to be named later to the Red Sox for the opportunity for the O's to bat against Campbell in every game for the rest of the year. That guy has given us two games basically.
  11. Ben: "Mountcastle goes all the way to first." I know I'm nitpicking but I'm amused by it.
  12. This hopefully won't go to the 17th or 18th inning like the old days because of the ghost runner, but it definitely gives me memories of the game when Chris Davis picked up a pitching win.
  13. I have an idea. Instead of hyping up our top draft picks to 9000 and getting them so they're out there trembling and can't think straight, just treat them like another ordinary call-up. No calls with Cal Ripken, no taking an informally retired number, no getting to meet the President (I know he didn't meet the President, but you get the point). Just be like "And here's Jackson Holliday, we hope he has a great career." The kid seems to be feeling the pressure, and caving. He's tense up there.
  14. How does Weissert get to only pitch to one guy? Was he in last inning?
  15. Eh, what's new. It's never gonna be easy is it?
  16. What the heck????? What's going on????? I'm watching TV, and harping on about how we stink, and we come back from the commercial and Tony is hitting a tater down the line?! OMG!
  17. Which position player isn't killing the offense? Holliday who reached on an error? Westburg because of what he did last night? Cowser because of his first ML home run? Yeah, they look bad out there. Not worried about Holliday. He'll figure it out - even if he gets sent down and has to figure it out in Norfolk, I'm sure he'll regroup and come back and be good for us over the long haul. But he picked a terrible time to be ice cold, i.e. when the rest of the entire team is ice cold too.
  18. How about that. Jackson Holliday, #7, gets on base on his 7th plate appearance, same as Cal Ripken Jr. Cal's was a hit, Jackson's was a fielding error.
  19. OK, here we go, 7th inning, 7-8-9 hitters, time to rake some offense and sweep this game on the way out of town.
  20. "Game of inches" - yeah - if that were ever so slightly more squared up, we'd have another Westburg lead.
  21. If that script ends with us clobbering their bullpen for a comeback win, I'll take it.
  22. Boston has good starters, including Whitlock. It's the rest of their team that isn't so good. Don't expect much O's scoring early.
  23. Jackson gets 2 weeks for free to get rid of his stagefright. If he doesn't start producing as advertised, send him back to Norfolk for a full refund.
  24. Wow! We have a lead playing 2 teams vs 1! The Red Sux and the Blue Sux combined can't keep the O's down!
