Ask literally any professional athlete and they'll tell you chemistry/camaraderie matters. And it certainly can't hurt that guys feel bonded to a team/organization when it comes time for them to decide whether they want to re-sign.
One of the numerous reasons why I would be hesitant to start selling off players who have grown up in this organization for mercenary rentals.
We will eventually have to sell some of them though. Even if you just look at Henderson, Westburg, Ortiz and Norby. Will Holliday on the way too at least one of those guys will need to be moved.

Heston definitely looks like he wants to be the next guy to have that chat with Buck Britton.

I'll be excited if we take a pitcher, but I'm at the point where I'm giving Elias and Sig 100% benefit of the doubt with whoever they take. I was annoyed when they went Cowser over Lawlar and I'm pretty happy with how that turned out. I was cool with Holliday, but would have gone Jones and I'm incredibly pleased with how that looks so far.
Hoping we grab more arms in the draft than we have the past few years, but it doesn't necessarily need to be in R1.

Was his number at Norfolk. I'd imagine that's the one he's been wanting.

I've been rooting for this team for over 30 years, and this is by far the biggest collection of minor league talent the org has had in all that time. Seeing that talent starting to stock up multiple roles on the big league team is one of the most exciting things I've seen in all that time, even knowing that some will struggle at first and that 100% of them won't make it. Isn't a bevy of homegrown talent leading the team to (hopefully) future championships what everyone wanted to see out of this rebuild?
This 100%. In the past we've had one top callup (i.e Manny / Mountcastle) at most to get excited about. This year we've seen numerous including Cowser (#14 per MLBPL) and Westburg (#32 per MLBPL) in the past week. Many are rightfully excited about the potential these players have based on their high rankings and performance in AAA.
Obviously that doesn't mean they will immediately step in and be All Star caliber players, but it's totally possible they can be difference makers for the club. Zach Neto and Matt McClain have been worth nearly 2 bWAR so far this year and both were ranked lower than Cowser and Westburg when they came up.

Earliest he could pitch would be Sunday and don't see the Orioles bringing him up before the break baring an injury
Maybe not, but they just made the move with Cowser. Might be feeling the heat.
-
This definitely seems like the sort of performance that could trigger a promotion. Maybe they want to see one more good one from him, but I hope they make the move now.

Same old movie again, Yankees prevail over us again. I try to be positive, but it is hard when the same results keep happening.
You literally just said we're probably getting swept if we lose tonight. That's you trying to be positive?

Maybe if he hadn’t yanked Wells at under 90 pitches this wouldn’t have happened. Hyde always gets in his own way.
Are you joking? Wells was getting hit hard when he was pulled.

We are fading fast. Can you not see that? Our problems are obvious and we have done nothing to correct them.
We literally aren't. The entire AL East is basically playing .500 ball. You just don't watch other teams play.

You’re a fool if you think we’re the 3rd best team in baseball.
Isn't that more of a reason to be excited and impressed by their results?

Haha this team is priceless.
This team has the 3rd best record in the MLB. At what point will you not be miserable?

Was there any update on Westburgs wrist? Is he available to pinch hit?
He apparently took BP, so maybe?

The AL East is crazy good. So tough to win on the road.
Conveniently we're the best road team in the league.

If we lose this game, we may be swept 4 games and be tied with the Yankees.
If we lose this game we may win the next 3 and be up 6 on the Yankees.

Which is why I have to laugh when I see people call him an ace. He’s a nice 4th or 5th starter, which is a great result from a Rule V guy. But ace is absurd.
The guy leading the MLB in WHIP and pitching great is a nice 4th or 5th starter? How many teams have 3 guys pitching better than him?

Love seeing the bats wake up. O'Hearn has had two great ABs.

What is it going to take for Mateo to primarily be a bench player and defensive replacement.
Seems like he was moved to primarily playing against LHP prior to Westburg being HBP yesterday.

What is Hays and Westburg's availability tonight?
Apparently Westburg took BP. I'd assume they are trying not to use both.

Just such a disappointing end to that inning. Had a real chance to do damage and get to their pen early in a 4 game series.
-
Really nice efficient 1st inning from Wells. Love to see it.

Eh, no. My bad.
I do like the idea of making a move for one of their arms, though. Giolito might be pretty affordable.

I didn't include Mountcastle since he is currently in the minors.
As a Mountcastle fan I'm OK will him staying down for a bit.
Seems like it would be best to really let him start mashing down there before bringing him up. Very little reason to rush him.

This will likely happen to Elias also. He trades Stowers, Santander, Norby, etc..... These guys can go on to have good careers. It happens.
I hope some of them go on to have good careers elsewhere. It shows we've done a good job drafting / evaluating talent. Obviously, I hope we keep the right guys, but it won't be a bad thing if we trade Norby or Stowers and they end up being really good in the long run. I just hope we get good value when we move some of our prospects.

It's amusing how many people in this thread are terrified of major metropolitan areas.
