  1. If Hayes and Stowers are both playing, I would assume Hayes in LF and Stowers in RF. Could also see Vavra at 2b and Henderson at 3b, or Vavra in LF if Hyde really wants to stack the lefties. Almost all Lefty/SH lineup Mullins CF Adley C Santander 1b Henderson 3b Urias DH Stowers RF Vavra LF Odor 2b Matteo SS
  2. I agree with this. I wonder if his elite pitch recognition hurts him ie he identifies it early as a breaking ball, and decides to take it assuming it will break...and it's a bad pitch, so it doesn't and turns into a hittable one
  3. I think Posey is a good model, the most games he ever started at catcher was 122 in 2016, from 2012-2017 he averaged starting 112 games at catcher, or a shade under 70%. In those same seasons, he averaged playing in 146 games or 90%. (Interestingly his low season for total games was also 2016, so the trade-off for catching more, was played less overall) Hitting MLBers is hard, and they've definitely adjusted to how they've pitched Adley, but dismissing fatigue as entirely not a possibility seems foolish, especially when we know catchers tend to wear down because of the physical demands of the position, and between how often they've asked him to catch, and how often he's been in the line-up overall, the Orioles are playing him relatively more then nearly any other team is playing their catcher. It makes sense, given the Orioles poor alternatives, but think for next year O's need to be able to roll out a lineup that doesn't have Rutschman catching, and doesn't leave us wanting to scream bloddy murder, because it's likely to happen 50+ times a season.
  4. Yeah, basically the guys who catch as often as Adley don't DH on their days off. The catchers who are in the lineup as often as Adley, don't catch as often/DH more often
  5. This is addressed in another tweet in the thread, I just didn't copy all of them. The two catchers with more games caught then Adley, don't DH or PH - For a similar age catcher who also DH's Kirk in Toronto has started 64 games at catcher (and 67 total), while playing in 116 games - Adley is at 62 games started at catcher (and 68 total) while appearing in 83 I would think a competent backup would be a high priority this offseason. Molina aside, you probably want to be able to keep Adley fresher for postseason games.
  6. The Orioles have an Adley problem, in that they’re to dependent on him. He’s definitely been slumping lately, and I think fatigue is likely a factor. That said, not having him behind the plate or in the lineup, leads to a big drop-off
  7. Orioles need some of their RH batters to start hitting.
  8. I wish they would get Stowers first base work. Seems like the only guy they haven't had take balls there. He's been pretty buried on the bench.
  9. Going to the game tomorrow night, crossing fingers for Adley and Gunnar
  10. Harvey has now gone three in Norfolk, doesn't seem like he's going to be starting one game of the DH Monday
  11. Never mind, my mistake, the like for like rule only applies to switches made due to injuries during a postseason series
  12. Ellis, Means, or A Wells will work as a swap out for Grayson if it should come to that. interestingly with the like for like sub rule, the orioles don’t have a single position player on the dl they could have used as a swap for Gunnar. Might be one reason he was activated on the 30th
  13. Grayson to Bowie for rehab start next week per Roch
  14. I think we know why Aguilar got released I think I would have pitched Tate here. I want Bautista available tomorrow if it's a closer game, and it doesn't feel like Tate has thrown in a bit
  15. It seems as if the major publications are shying away from naming a pitcher the #1 prospect, just based on how often they get injured, which scratches out Grayson et all. Gunnar will still be a prospect on the end of year lists, since he'll still have rookie status, and I don't think Grayson will be rookie eligible by the mid-year re-ranks anyways. I don't think Cowser has the elite tools needed, Holliday is probably the most realistic answer, if he's scorching hot next year and jumps to double-A plus has success there. Out of left-field: Norby and Fabian
  16. Just made him look silly... and maybe Perez should throw more sinkers, that was nasty
