  3. Yes me too was thinking way more based on werythkng said. You’d think Walters is in play, I’m surprised Young wasn’t he must not have gotten an offer or they didn’t want to give him much.
  4. My initial comment about $1.6M for the three guys was a try for all 3 but expect two if possible. For Young and Walters if they get offered 500-600k to sign they are making a pretty big gamble going back for their senior year, especially Young. He has another crap year or gets hurt and he has zero leverage next year. He’s basically gotta be a second round pick to make significantly more and delays the path to the majors and big league money. Walters as a reliever is betting big on the same deal, and how many relievers were taken in the first 2-3 rounds? Forgot that first $125k doesn’t count for the three of them so that’s good and really means ~1.9M for the three in total. Feels doable if McLean is at slot. However if the two of them are looking for top 2 round money there’s likely no chance.
  5. Assuming slot for McLean, they have about $1.6M to spend on Showalter, Walters and Young assuming they spend the full 5% overallotment and are willing to pay the ~$600k tax/penalty. I hope they go for it and try to get all three, but for $1.6M they should be able to get two of those guys at least.

  7. I've been thinking about this a lot lately as well and agree with much of what you said @Aristotelian, Holliday likely 2-3 years away, so in meantime Urias + Henderson + Westburg + Mateo + Vavra would be a fine group to have occupy 2B, 3B, SS, partial DH and PR/PH. Every quality playoff team needs a guy who can come off the bench and get a SB and I think Mateo can fill that role nicely and platoon a bit. Mateo is with the team from through the 2025 season, Urias through 2026, Vavra I believe through 2027 or 2028, and Henderson/Westburg unless called up soon are through 2028. Gotta figure Holliday is through 2030 at least. Seems like having most of these pieces isn't a bad thing for a contending team. If you can package one plus another prospect/player for a #1/#2 starter controllable then it'd certainly have to be considered.
  8. Boy do I sure miss Gary Thorne and Joe Angel. Fred Manfra too. Even Jim Hunter.
  9. This exactly...was expecting at least one of their top 11, particularly figuring Riley, Pachhe, Toussaint, Waters, Wentz, Muller or Contreras.
  10. And eat $9M salary? I think they'll use him, hope he's a 3 something ERA reliever.
