  1. The way I see it, just because you're a top prospect doesn't mean you have to have every at bat. Assuming an even split, the future of the team has 13 spots for grabs. Most are easy fills: 1. Rutschman (C/DH) 2. Basallo (C/??) 3. Henderson (3B/SS) 4. Holliday (SS/3B/2B) 5. Ortiz (SS/2B) 6. Westburg (2B/3B) 7. Mayo (1B/3B) 8. Kjerstad (RF/DH/1B) 9. Cowser (LF/CF/RF) 10. Norby (LF/??) 11. Mullins (CF) - arbitration through 2026 12. ??? 13. ??? Outfield has the most wiggle room so Santander can certainly stick around, especially if Kjerstad primarily plays DH. You've also got Hays, and O'Hearn and Urias have played at 1B. The Orioles will not pay everyone in arbitration, and trade somebody for more prospects and/or pitching in the off season.
  2. This looks good, assuming best case scenario of course. Might flip Flaherty and Gibson for games 3/4. Again assuming best case scenario, that's a good staff. That means GRod is up to standards, Gibson is getting his double plays, Flaherty is his best self, Fuji is maintaining his second half pace, Cano and Wells are not tired, and Means is back to 100%. Not likely all these things happen; hopefully most of them do.
  3. I think more people here would rather keep Santander than Hays, FWIW. But he is essentially playing what Kjerstad's role will be, and he's very likely not moving to that cavernous LF. I'm not complaining if he stays because I have confidence there will be a plan.
  4. The probability looks like four players that share the three positions. Henderson (L), Holliday (L), Ortiz (R) and Westburg (R). The Orioles already show that they prefer a rotating DH. Mayo at 1B, and can cover 3B. Kjerstad DH/RF. It seems to all be in place. The question is if any of the incumbents (O'Hearn, Urias, Mateo, maybe Frazier) are kept around.
  5. It's all about health with Flaherty. At his best, he's extremely good. So, we'll just have to see if his July (3-1, 3.05 ERA, 26 K, 10 BB) is a trend in the right direction, or not.
  6. Looking forward to Flaherty's first start in an Oriole uniform already. Maybe he likes the place enough to re-sign with the team?
  7. - ERod gives team ten teams he won't play for - Tigers negotiate with one of those teams up to the trade deadline - Tigers then ask ERod (or his agent) for an okay, and he declines Wow.
  8. The Tigers really screwed that one up. Apparently every player with an active social media account is piling on.
  9. Getting conflicting reports as to whether Showalter was included.
  10. Whadd'ya know, it ended up being Jack Flaherty after all. Adding to the end of the rotation, not the front. Did not imagine Prieto nor Rom having much future in Baltimore. None of the top prospects or even B-level prospects were moved.
  11. Sewald is already traded, to Arizona https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/paul-sewald-trade-diamondbacks-to-acquire-mariners-closer-in-four-player-deal/
  12. Difference in the playoffs, to me, means relief pitching more than anything. Even if the Orioles get another starter, their SP innings will likely be shortened in the post season.
  13. If Means comes back dealing come playoff time, and Grayson Rodriguez keeps it up from his last three starts I don't think people will be complaining much about the rotation. They are "ifs", but it's plausible.
  14. Up yours too. You don't remember Peter Angelos literally holding up deals for no reason? I honestly don't know if John is this way.
  15. My biggest worry isn't even squabble over trade compensation - it's getting the paperwork done on time. I'm serious.
  16. Yes, and those fans exist. I'm curious to see how many are here.
  17. "overpay" is just as suggestive. Facts and rationality do not apply to this poll anyway.
  18. Does Fujinami count as a trade deadline deal?
  19. Removed "this season" from the question, did not mean to suggest the whole season
  20. I consider it related. Hopefully he keeps it up for two more innings.
  21. Simple poll question to gauge the fan base prior to tomorrow's deadline.
  22. Does seem more like an off season acquisition to me. The Orioles may not have a stud but they're pretty deep in the outfield.
  23. Well, Byron Buxton was a bust until he wasn't. Carlson was that level of prospect correct?
