  1. Was going to say the same. He might be the one who would take a team friendly deal. I feel like Gunnar is probably out of our price range already.
  2. From what I can tell the xAcc is about the mix pitches they get. It is estimating "likelihood a given pitch is called correctly." Has nothing to with the skill of the umpire. So if he had a low xAcc that game, it would mean he had a lot of pitches on the edge of the strike zone or for whatever reason their algo thinks they were hard pitches to call. https://umpscorecards.com/explainers/accuracy So this scorecard is saying that for the particular mix of pitches Laz got, he did better than expected and this could be considered a good game. I say that's dead wrong.
  3. Something with their "expected" accuracy metric is severely broken if it thinks Diaz was better than expected. Also I don't know how the Gorman pitch could be more impactful than the missed third strike that turned into a three run homer.
  4. This actually makes some sense. If Kremer sticks in the rotation he could also go every 5th day to help manage innings for the others. Only issue is what that does to the bullpen. I could come around to that.
  5. I thought of that. Might need to be Holliday-Adley-Gunnar. Still, when you draft all LHB's you might have to hit them back to back occasionally. Shouldn't be a problem against RHP and it's not like you need to PH for Gunnar vs LHP.
  6. Kremer also made good pitches to the first two hitters that inning. Burleson hit a shoestring level curveball and Herrera's was up and in on his hands. He didn't have great stuff but he was fighting bad breaks and umpiring as well.
  7. Sadly, I feel like the window to extend Gunnar may have passed. Not to point fingers: we have no idea whether Gunnar and his agent ever had any intention of signing at any price, and who knows what constraints Angelos had put on Elias. Just seems like the opportunity for any kind of team friendly deal is fading rapidly.
  8. Mullins would be perfect for this if he would hit to his career average. Once Holliday comes up, start him and Mullins 8-9. Once Holliday hits, he can be the leadoff hitter of the future with Adley and Gunnar 2-3. A 9-1-2 of Mullins-Holliday-Gunnar would be pretty nice. I agree, Gunnar has to be 1 or 2. Every spot you move him down reduces his predicted AB's by 11% and we don't want that. Better to have him hit more times even if it costs a few base runners than more baserunners/fewer ABs.
  9. Hyde happened. He was just one and done.
  10. Wow, heck of a jump there. Bases loaded and a 100+ EV put. This could get ugly. I don't get why Hyde didn't get another inning out of Suarez.
  11. Gunnar shoulda dropped that one on purpose
  12. Is Hyde aware we need the bullpen to cover 5 innings tonight?
  13. And he already gifted the Card three runs. Unbelievable.
  14. I know a Gunnarz from Latvia pronounced "Goo".
  15. Wow well done Westburg. I thought for sure Arenado would get him
  16. He should just report the statcast degree of difficulty in monotone.
  17. Extend him!!!!! Unbelievable play.
  18. Sonny Gray is really, really good. I was hoping we would sign him this offseason. Can't complain about the guy we got though.
  19. Because Santander is hitting so well! /s
