  1. Perhaps a better title should be “Brothers in Belief” belief in a higher power, sure, belief in each other, most definitely.
  2. My only problem with this thinking is, what would he have to do? Prove that last year wasn’t a fluke? Perhaps the goal and hope is for him to have a good first half, trade him at the deadline for some lottery pick pitching prospects and bring up Stowers to platoon with Cowser. After all, Stowers has proven to really hit against left handers and that’s something we will need tremendously in the playoffs.
  3. Yes that is a very good summation of the spirit of my original post and I think indicative of what makes a good team and specifically a player. Look, at this level, everyone is an incredible player, but what gives a team an edge in my estimation is the intangibles, values, morals, trust and love for your teammates, etc. it all adds up.
  4. Is it possible to simply send hays or urias down to AAA? We did that with Mully way back when to get him right and it worked, is that not possible here as well?
  5. Exactly, that was the point of the thread. No talk of one way of belief being better than the other. Simply, I’m damn proud to support these O’s and am glad they love this game, love playing for each other and glorify the Lord doing it. It’s a neat culture that Elias has built and perhaps that plays into the early success we have seen with such a quick turnaround. I would love to be in the room where Sig, Elias and his team of scouts are gathered, discussing the draft and dissecting potential players as it seems to me there is a definite player profile that tends to trend toward success.
  6. Every so often I’ll go back to the Delmon Young double and relive that moment. That was the single greatest sports moment of my life.
  7. Yeah not quite the same. That Jesus looks more like a Red Sox fan than the majestic childlike stencil of our Lord and Savior. I swear this thing was a one off or something. Never seen anything like it.
  8. Well westy is just going to have to keep ripping bombs in late inning comebacks then. Or maybe Cowser this time. Or maybe Adley. Or hell even Hays! Now that would be miraculous!
  9. Hilarious! Man if that could fit on a shirt, I’d wear it. One time, scouring a goodwill in Houston Texas, I found a shirt that was like 3 sizes too large but the damn thing said “Jesus loves the Orioles” and had this majestic almost stick figure drawing of Jesus with an O’s cap on. I bought it instantly but through subsequent moves was lost in the shuffle. Anyway, hilarious man.
  10. Nice, you’ve got good taste!
  11. Well I’ll be praying that whatever you are going through goes well. Sometimes this silly game can be the outlet we don’t know we need. To be quite terribly honest, I lost my mother a week ago and I can not tell you what a needed outlet this team has been for my father, brother and I. i think back to @Roy Firestone and his beautiful summation as to why baseball means anything at all. In fact, I read his beautiful write up to my brother and father. Baseball can be cathartic so whatever is happening in your life, I pray it goes well.
  12. Heh nothing wrong either way, but man, that’s one of my favorite sports movies of all time. It’s up there with necessary roughness.
  13. Someone hasn’t seen Major League! Hah
  14. You trying to tell me Jesus Christ can’t hit a curve ball?
  15. Hey man, Jesus was a Jew too. Hah
  16. This team is special in so many ways. That’s a given, but a differentiation perhaps might arise in this team’s seemingly united love of Christ. The Jackson Holliday postgame interview, highlighting his pre-at bat ritual of drawing a cross in the dirt, giving all glory to Jesus, I tell ya, this team is easy to root for. Gunnar is like that. Adley is like that. Westy is like that. Cowser is like that. Mounty is like that. The list goes on and on. Couldn’t be prouder of them, but the fact they are equally yolked is, I think, a rarity and something that should be cherished and exalted.
  17. Such a fun team. Listen, if you guys have the opportunity and aren’t at work or with family, this team is going to be so damn fun this year to watch. These young O’s play with such joy, it’s a thing of beauty. It really is what the game is supposed to be. As Westy was saying, they’ve come up together, are at the big leagues together and just enjoy coming to work every day. It’s really a rarity in this business and man is it a fun ride every night. im so glad you enjoyed the game and I hope you have time for many more this year!
  18. Same. As Westy said, “if it ain’t broke…”
  19. No, they wanted Holliday to get ROY. With Carter’s end last year, if he carried over the same way, it would be tough. Now, not so much.
  20. I highly doubt he forgoes the minor league deal. Birds in the hand and all.
  21. I disagree completely and all this extension talk is asinine.
