Here's another wrinkle that Elias I'm sure thought of. Look at the coverage today. This is Jackson's day. He gets to be showcased across the nation, all eyes on him. This skyrockets his brand and push for ROY. If he would have come up with the club originally, not only would he have faced many many lefties, making it tough for him to really debut and get going, but you would also be competing with the Opening Day storylines that would for certain dominate the headlines. This is a tremendously savvy move by Elias and the FO and will likely, if he has a great year, secure the team with another year of service time and yet another first round pick. Elias is extending the window of championship level baseball in Baltimore as far as he possibly can. What a tremendous tactician.

To that point as well, the other potential rookies of the year are scuttling. I think, the O's are true believers in Jackson's talent to attain one of the top two spots in ROY. So it actually does fall in line with what Elias believes. It's a bit of a gamble, but that's like holding a full house and expecting to win the pot. Sure, there are a couple of possible hands to beat ya, but the odds are very much in your favor.

Agreed, the move makes too much sense for Elias and too little sense for Rubenstein. It's honestly a bit silly to even bring up and makes me wonder as to why that thought would even enter your head.

It's exciting to see Jackson pick the number Seven. While some Elias may have been greedy with his service time, Jackson will surely be the pride of Baltimore. No, I think it really was to just shelve Kemp and store him at AAA. Plus, Holliday was able to extend playing daily for as much time as possible to still garner ROY possibilities. In my opinion, it was pretty damn masterful.

Oh, well as a prank on Billy Ripken, some of the players wrote #@$% Face on the butt of Billy's bat as it was the day Topps I think was taking pics for their baseball cards. No one caught it and a few cards were made until Topps caught wind and airbrushed it out.

The Sig and Elias effect. Sig, the stat and models guy, Elias, the scout at heart, and together they form the best way to project talent. The rebuild took two years. Two stinking years. Jackson is at MLB while Jones is in high A. We are so blessed to have that team and we are blessed the Angelos family gave them the keys to the kingdom to have the success we will be seeing for the next ten years. Amazing time to be an O. Quite possibly the best time since the 60s and early 70s.
