  1. Or we play the game. Let Mayo sit and play the Gunnar route. Bring him up at the second half of the long grueling season and prep him for ROY for 2025. Dude will be 23 then. Perfect timing.
  2. That’s what happened with Stowers last year so yeah. My bad about not understanding the rules to the new ROY thing guys.
  3. Rookies obviously must be included on the opening day roster for a chance at rookie of the year and a compensatory pick, so does that alter the numbers they’d normally carry to have more lottery tickets to get that coveted spot? My meaning is, Jackson Holliday, Kyle Stowers, and Colton Cowser, I believe are your rookie of the year candidates for the O’s this year. So does that change the numbers game by starting off with an extra position player for the first series and one less bullpen arm to make that work? So first base - Mounty/ohearn second base - Holliday/westy short stop - Gunnar/mateo third base - Urias/westy catcher - Adley/mccann left field - purple hays/cowser/stowers center - Mully/the cow right field - Santander/cowser/stowers or do you go one further and add Heston as well and go with an 11 man pitching staff, again, just for that first series? its ok to game the system a bit if it means more possibilities for ROY considering these guys are going to lose their rookie eligibility anyway. what are your thoughts Birdland?
  4. Yeah that’s why I don’t see us bringing Mayo up until September. That way the bat plays, he comes in hungry. Maybe we get a deal at the deadline for Urias, Hays or Santander and that will free up spots for the youngsters. We will see Mayo this year but I don’t think we burn a year to push out a former gold glover even if means the bat isn’t the same as Mayo’s. Defense is paramount to Hyde.
  5. My only thinking is, if you bring along Mayo, he has to play every day or nearly every day or it’s a waste. I think he’s ready now, but he is still quite young and you don’t want to burn a year of service time for him to platoon or play sparingly at third. Unfortunately, or fortunately for depth reasons, I think we will see a similar situation to how Westburg was brought up slowly, having Adam Frazier be that stop gap to start the year. Urias still has value and he’s a known quantity at the big league level. No need to bring up Mayo and have him struggle for the first half when you can ride Urias for that stretch and bring Mayo up later in the year to not burn a year and set up next year as his ROTY campaign. It’s a good problem when you have too much talent.
  6. Perhaps it’s the nagging injury from last year?
  7. Completely agree. No need to burn a year to field a kid who would have similar production as Maton, Wong, etc. I know it’ll be a bummer because it would be awesome to see him already but we should trust Elias and Hyde. They’ve earned that respect.
  8. I think that is the clear message with this signing.
  9. I agree entirely. Trade at a somewhat relative high. Heck, he’s a gold glover. It’s Mayo time.
  10. Yeah, I love the guy, but he’s a wild swinging right hander. Hays is like that too. They just aren’t matching the profile of steady hitters who see lots of pitches and don’t chase. I see them trading them both, perhaps this year.
  11. While not impossible, no, no one is saying that. No one is even thinking that but you.
  12. There’s a bevy of fun stories and I personally can’t wait to see who emerges from the three headed Hydra (Stowers, Cowser, and Kjerstead). im going to go out of a limb and say Wandisson Charles and Cole Irvin. I think we see a massive jump on both accounts and Charles may be a Cano in waiting.
  13. Well that’s another thing altogether. Can the guy still pitch? Will the guy negatively affect the clubhouse? Is there a similar guy we can get without all the baggage? These are the questions that really matter and Elias will fairly weigh that decision. It’s unfortunate what happened to him with the crazy lady, but yeah, can the guy pitch still? as to others who have said “no one cares” well, you responded to the dang post so maybe practice what you preach. and regardless what yall say, this is quite political if the guy can actually still pitch. If he can’t, then well, there are lots of guys who can throw a ball and keep their stuff together.
  14. Plenty of other threads to complain about…
  15. Didn’t we sign a similar checkered past in Michael Givens last year? Don’t Orioles fans who are Ravens fans still love Ray Lewis? There are some extremely vocal voices on X who would absolutely freak out if we signed Bauer. It kind of makes me want to see it happen, tbh. Look, the guy was cleared of wrong doing and all one has to do is watch the interview of the “victim” to understand what type of insanity Bauer has dealt with as a result. moral of the story: don’t dip your dick in crazy.
  16. Thoughts on Cade Povich or Chayse McDermott getting a nod in the bullpen as the year progresses? Surely we can fill some potential holes in house? I’m still on the lookout for the Danny Coulombe of this year. Who is the late acquisition going to be?
  17. If it’s only based on regular season, it simply has to be Hyde and Gunnar. Obviously if it was also the postseason, it would be Bochy and Gunnar.
  18. I don’t blame the projections. It’s impossible really to project rookies and their impact on teams as the data just isn’t there for them in the majors. Clear up the pitching need that Elias has his sights on and this team will soar just as we did last year. Health of course will be very important, particularly depth with pitching, but we’ve got position players for days to sure up any untimely injuries there. Pitching is always king and I fully expect another step forward for the O’s there.
  19. Trades like Ortiz for Scott are why I can’t stand the baseball offseason. It’s mind numbing hearing such suggestions. That being said, wouldn’t it be amazing to be a fly on the wall at the winter meetings? I’d love to hear the pros discuss player projection and possible trades.
  20. You’d think winning that would get you a draft pick as well.
  21. I'd add Lucas Giolito and Jordan Hicks.
  22. I understand your thinking, but I really think Elias will make some bold moves this off-season. I also think the Orioles have a much greater opportunity to ink a top free agent as we clearly are a team that is on the rise. Pitchers have a short shelf life. They want to land at a team that can compete for a World Series. I also think the payroll will open up to grab one or two starters. It’s an easier sell for both Elias to Angelos and Elias to the potential free agent. I mean, look at the sheer number of free agent pitchers out there. It’s a buyer’s market for sure. Great spot for the O’s to be in, now with proven capability. I hope we nab a lefty or two.
  23. Orioles are primed to acquire one or two pitchers this offseason. There are a ton of free agents. Time for us to make a couple of big moves and usher in the position players to push us over the top. Amazing spot for the O’s to be in!
