  1. Secret Monkey Weekend, ie. my 16 year old daughter, her 21 year old big sister, and yours truly (their papa) are playing War3house3 in Swarthmore PA on Thurs July 11th at 8pm. We hope to catch an O's game that weekend right after vs. NYY.

@bobmcsaw us play in Charlotte last weekend and took this photo that's featured in the article. That's my lovely wife Laura with us. We're just listening to the first band in this pic. The editor of The Swarthmorean asked her teenaged daughter to write this article.

The Emmy award winning PBS documentary that the article references is here.

Come see us Thursday if you're anywhere near.

I think the whole Bautista / Omar thing is more about inspiring a feeling, the ominous feeling you get when Omar is about to do his thing juxtaposed to Felix coming out of the pen to dominate the opposition.

I think the metaphor breaks down when you take it too literally and start interpreting it the way you do and stretch it that much.   Felix when he is on is a dominant closer.   But he is not actually going to kill anybody.

They played Hell's Bells when Trevor Hoffman came out of the pen, but [as far as I know] they didn't actually perform any ritual Satanic sacrifices or draw pentagrams in blood.

I think the idea of Omar and the bags dropping out of the windows is surrender, not kill. Omar only uses his gun when kindness fails (to quote a line from Robert Earl Keen).

    This probably won’t happen but.

    but.

imagine hearing the whistle out of nowhere to secure series win in the post season.

I always felt that if they are going to recall The Wire and Omar's whistle, why don't they hire some folks to drop black plastic trash bags out of the warehouse windows like the people Omar was about to rob did? They just surrendered their stash without a fight because they knew "Omar don't play."

The Orioles could call up Mayo and plug him at 3B or bring up Norby. Give Westburg 10 days to get right.

Maybe wait a few days and time it where it ends at the All-Star break, and then add in that extra rest. But yes, give Mayo a try in the interim.

He talks about the real estate company during games?

I can't say I've heard it. On his afternoon radio show, Garceau Realty was a sponsor, but I have not heard it during an O's pre-game or post-game. I have not listened to the afternoon sports shows in some time.

Its vomit level attempts at pandering and they just sound stupid.

Eduardo Perez, I assume does it by second nature with his father being from Cuba (Eduardo born in Cincinnati), but when gringos attempt it, yeah ...  it seems to be trying too hard.

Yesterday was a sellout. Tonight is not close. There are a few sections that are empty or very close to empty.

Vacationers who filled the stands Saturday probably drove home Sunday since it's a night game instead of 1:35pm.

I was expecting a bigger crowd tonight. Pretty disappointing for our first SNB showing.

Me, too. Yesterday looked packed, though. Looked close to a sell out though I did not see the count in the box score.

Of course I wouldn’t turn it down, but that doesn’t mean it’s not stupid.
Why not give them $10,000 to have an interview before or after the game instead of during the game while you’re supposed to be concentrating on the game, even if you’re in the dugout you’re supposed to be studying the pitches and the placement and all that happy Zen baseball stuff.

I'd ask for $20k not to do it.

MLB is going to have to regulate these in game in field interviews because it can become dangerous and distracting. Also not every team is doing it the same number of times.

I'd be ok if they were miked and it's just them chatting with each other. But to have to think about questions is messed up.

Uggh, mid game interviews while a player is playing is Frickin' spring training or All-Star game crap.

It's nuts. I hate it. He's gonna be talking and he'll be hit smack in the kisser when the infield is tossing the ball around after a K.
