  1. I think we should just get it over with, and take the money to extend some young stars. I can live with this as OPACY primary name rights owner.
  2. Kind of resembles Ramses, the UNC Tar Heel mascot. Similar color, too. The Dookies are not gonna like this.
  3. Preparation X comes to mind. Ex-LAX Field at Camden Yards
  4. No one mentioned The American Visionary Museum of Art. It's just a few blocks past Federal Hill at the Key Highway, and just over a mile from Camden Yards. It's a very fun place to see offbeat folk art, etc. 800 Key Highway Baltimore, MD 21230 410.244.1900 info@avam.org
  5. Hindsight is 20/20. I do find value in the youth sports field currently there as a tangential reminder of the history, but this is what had been considered at one point, I think. This is in Indianapolis.
  6. Fairbanks and his dart throwing delivery. It clearly works for him. I wonder if that motion is easier on the elbow?
  7. Wait a minute! (From a post from last year - Roy was saying "I command thee").
  8. Aranda reminds me of a mashup of Nelson Cruz and Bobby Brady. Such a baby face.
  9. I'm almost certain he was joking. Tone is hard to convey on message boards.
  10. No "want to" as Buck would say? I know you were joking. He clearly wants to succeed. Just in a rough, rough patch. Yes, goes back awhile, but still.
  11. They can have Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer for all I care if he continues to rake. Btw, that's one song so cringey I immediately reach for the off button on my car radio.
  12. Sadly, we don't see that much anymore. I had constant bruises on my chest during my playing days. And some bruised nuggets occasionally. Even wearing a cup, there's pain when a guy gets dinged there. It's like wearing a bullet proof vest, but still feeling some impact of a bullet. I think the scariest thing is having one's breath knocked out, though. It feels like drowning. Happened a bit to me in football. I did have a spike come down on a finger once. I called time, went out of the gate, behind the concession stand and threw up!
  13. How ironic that Brian Roberts is doing the color when an accident like that occurs.
  14. I have never seen a throw to 2nd that overthrown. Just throw it over the CF fence next time like Trevor Bauer.
  15. Ok, just found it online. 4-ALS. Lou Gehrig's disease. 4 was his number.
  16. I didn't catch the pre-game. Was there a reason given for the "4" patch on each team's uniforms?
  17. Sounds like one of the dreams I had a few years ago. The ballpark was a mash-up of OPACY and my childhood back yard. In the last play of the game, Matt Wieters went hard into third on a triple, overslid and went all the way into the visitor's dugout and a brawl ensued. I think the ball he hit was in a tree in centerfield and it took a long time to bound down from the various limbs, thus the triple!
  18. I'd have no problem with that. And for the people who can't see that, that RF auxillary board I pasted in will help those folks, at least.
  19. I had assumed making a field level area in RF would be like a basement to the flag court, not a lowering of the RF fence. Just a cut out at the bottom of the out of town scoreboard.
  20. I like the idea of field level outfield section built in the wall, but I'd hate to see the grounds crew dugout gone, but that's where it probably makes most sense, unless it could be built under the flag court or Walltimore. Btw, this is as good a place as any to repost my idea for moving the scoreboard / Jumbotron so the historic Camden Station could be seen. By doing so, the centerfield rooftop bar could be almost tripled in size in my drawing. I don't care if the scoreboard blocks the view of the freeloaders on the balcony of the Hilton. I still have my grudge based on it blocking the Bromo Tower. This is my graphic of how it would look. Note the auxiliary scoreboard behind the seats in the right field corner. And for good measure, redesign the top of the scoreboard to incorporate the Key Bridge into the design since The Sun logo is gone.
  21. On the bright side, that fan got the coolest in-game souvenir possible, his glove.
  22. It must be tough to be known as THE worst umpire. But someone has to be, I guess. It reminds me of the old joke, "what do you call the person who finished last in his med school?" Answer: "Doctor".
  23. When I was in my mid teens, his hippie ethic appealed to me and I followed his early NBA career when he was allowed to turn loose and be himself. I admired his playing in college, but I had to pull hard against him in his senior year as NC State was my hometown team and David Thompson was my guy. We all know how the '74 tournament went. But Walton was an intimidating presence on the court and that semi-final was one I dreaded. He had an amazing run at UCLA and as Frobby mentioned, the '73 title game was off the charts as far as domination and excellence, and propelled him straight into legend. I didn't follow college nor NBA much in the last few decades, so I missed him as a commentator or analyst. But I'd heard a lot about how colorful he was. Rest in peace, Bill. I'm so sorry for your loss, Roy. Thanks for sharing.
