I pass on this trade. Take out Bradish and I’d do it. Maybe replace with Wells or even Felix. Bradish looks like he has a shot to be a solid 3 and like others have said, with 6 more years of control, that alone may be more valuable that two years of Burns. And I say two years because there is no way we sign him to a long term contract.

The Dodgers. Instantaneously. I know Buehler is hurt but that’s still not realistic. When he’s healthy he’s one of the five to seven best starters in the game and Mateo, while a good fielder and exciting, has one year of full time starting experience under his belt as a 27 year old. It would be shocking if that trade happened. But also amazing and I’d love it.

Yes to everything here. Verlander was the guy to pursue and overpay for if we were serious about “blasting off.” I wouldn’t touch Rodón at his ask and there’s a reason he’s still out there. And I really like him as a pitcher but I see him as extremely volatile. Two shoulder surgeries and he’s not getting any younger. I do think he could become an elite closer if a team realizes he can’t shoulder (pun not intended) a starter’s load after a few seasons. But yea, I don’t think he’s the guy for us.

I could see a world in which he takes a few one year deals to maximize his earning. He seems pretty confident in himself.

No you don’t pay for bassit or montas. Absolutely not Montas. Verlander is my number one target because he may be willing to take a high AAV one year deal. He’s a sure thing in that one year. I also think it would be very valuable to have Grayson et. Al watch the way one of the best pitchers ever works.

Maybe I’m giddy, but I think he has a decent chance to be our best player since Manny, and maybe even surpass that. I wasn’t around for Cal’s rookie season, but this kid is extremely precocious and his poise strikes me even more than his physical talent. He has the look of something potentially really special.

I imagine they’re paying attention now, especially with all the other top 100 guys who they’re conceivably getting live looks at. I agree with Tony I think. Ortiz has jumped Westburg for me.
