They needed two arms. Mattson was already on the 40. Wells being sent back isn’t too big of a surprise. He will be back up probably after the trade deadline.

I saw a lot of complaints about the umpires having a small zone for Orioles pitchers the last few games. I don’t know how much was a framing issue vs. umpire issue. 3 factors to consider with Wells about his command being a bit spotty now: Nerves, framing/umpire issue, grip issue. Unfortunately, it is something that might have to be accounted for for the rest of the season for everyone.
