  1. Do you see them putting Sisco at 1st at any point, even in Norfolk? He’s only played 1 inning, ever, there.
  2. I figured this deserved its own thread instead of being buried in the “Alex Wells 2021” thread. If I am wrong, please let me know @Tony-OH Obviously last night wasn’t a good situation and the fact it is postponed today is a bit concerning. Hoping for the best for him and everyone involved, including the first responders, medical personnel at the hospital, the Bulls, Tide (especially Cumberland who had the hit) and most importantly, Zombro and his family, including his wife who was at the game.
  3. The worst part was seeing a tweet later on that his wife was at the game and was rushed down to the field. I can’t imagine what was going through her mind during that time too. Thankfully the Rays (and Bulls) have been giving updates and they are encouraging. You’re also right about Cumberland.
  4. They sent Lowther back down, which already opens a spot on the 26 man roster. With Scoreler struggling last night at Norfolk, I wonder if they play the “he had a set back” game and transfer him to the 60 day IL.
  5. Saw the video and it is definitely awful on a whole different level. Up to that point, Bryce Florie had been the worst “comeback at the pitcher” injury I had seen. This tops it.
  6. Before this season, the main issue was just the pay. Due to the fact they can’t have host families and players now pay for their food, room and boarding and other expenses, the already low pay and mandatory dues for clubhouse managers on the road and at home means their $2,000 a month (pre tax, too) doesn’t go far, especially when there was the issue where players had to get their own rooms on a road trip too.
  7. You’re right. A lot of the issues tend to be in A ball at both levels and not as much in AA. I think the main reason it seems worse this year is because players lost out on Host Families, who would provide a room and sometimes meals. Bowie had a group that would do a “potluck dinner” after every home Sunday game for the players and provide blankets, pillows and other stuff for road trips. I don’t think anyone is allowed to do stuff like that right now and it becomes an issue. Teams also give clubhouse managers a meal budget to work with, which is usually the equivalent of a family of fours budget. That’s why players are super happy when a MLB’er is there for a rehab assignment, as the player will usually treat for the time they are there with pre and post game meals.
  8. Also, Delmarva absolutely kicked the crap out of Fredericksburg during their series, with I think a 119 run differential.
  9. @Frobby alert: J.D. Mundy homered.
  10. I guess the corresponding move was Chris Shaw going on the IL at Norfolk. The same Shaw who is 1-39 with a .026 average.
  11. Just an org guy. That, or Elias is being REALLY aggressive with him.
  12. That’s what is happening in Delmarva. In another city, players were given a link to a hotel site to book their own accommodations for the night on the last day of a road trip, after being told the team hotel was fully booked.
  13. A bit of a sombering and disturbing bit of information coming out right now... I’ve been in contact with a few players in different minor league organizations and was just informed that the Delmarva team just told their players that they will not have any living spaces provided once they get back from their road trip. This comes shortly after this fiasco: While the Pelicans posted this announcement, I was getting other information that the Pelicans weren’t, in fact, giving players housing and instead players were sleeping in the clubhouse. Some other teams (Astros and I believe Mets are atleast two of them) are providing housing for their entire system. Due to the ongoing COVID stuff, players aren’t getting “host families” this year unlike other years. Players would also have to pay for their own accommodations. If you aren’t familiar with MiLB salaries...Let’s just say that they won’t exactly be living large...Or even medium. Some teams have players that managed to get a long term hotel rental and are cramming multiple players in there. But that doesn’t seem like something that is able to be done at most places. I’ve asked some of the players what can be done to help and they are unsure and mainly in “panic mode.” If anyone has any help or knowledge on anything that can be done, please reach out. Thank you.
  14. Josh Rogers was promoted to “fan.”
  15. 0-1 and a stolen base against him. Who is next up?
  16. I think the question then becomes... Who is the backup? There is a lot to like about Handley and Cannon in the lower levels. But they won’t be up for a bit either, probably not when Adley spends his first season or two, as long as they keep progressing and don’t slump out.
