  1. Big day for anyone batting against Eshelman.
  2. If he has things to refine, why bring him up?
  3. Orioles optioned Keegan Akin after tonight’s game (3/10.) I would expect more moves to happen during this week, as they start to ramp up preparation for the season.
  4. This bum hasn’t had a hit in almost a week!
  5. Who doesn’t enjoy a Holaday from work?
  6. If he makes the roster, I’ll learn to spell it. Eventually.
  7. I feel like Lakins made a good statement with how he bounced back from his absolutely awful debut in the Spring, which is refreshing (the bounce back, not the getting shelled...) I do shudder at the thought of Nunez playing 3rd on a consistent basis. I know it would help get Mountcastle AND Nunez in the line up, but good lord, pitchers will be pissed. The catchers race is interesting. Holoday seemed like he was going to run away with it, but Wynns seems to be keeping up, though he does seem to be playing more “garbage time,” but he he has been doing very good on defense (I don’t think he has allowed a stolen base.) Sisco is an interesting case. Suppose Wynns makes it as the back up to Severino. Does AAA have Sisco, Holoday, and Cervenka?
  8. That sounds pretty serious. Then again, he wasn’t a fast runner in the first place.
  9. It is easy to speculate, but the best thing to do is just hope and then play the worst game ever: The Waiting Game.
  10. Yeah, saw that. But if he doesn’t play in the field consistently over the next few weeks, I could see the IL spot. If I was Mullins and Williams, I’d be patting him on the shoulder every time I pass him.
  11. 105.7 had a good point yesterday. With the new roster rules, 3 batter minimum, and IL/Norfolk Shuttle rules, tying up 2 “immovable” spots for the whole year might have been a factor. Now, why not keep 1? Dunno. Maybe Elias tried working out a trade for one or both but it didn’t happen, or could still happen later on. Send them back now, give them experience in their own camp and see if you can still trade for them.
  12. I wonder if Santander might start the year on the IL due to his shoulder? He is going to start playing in the field soon, but labrum injuries are no joke and sometimes even after surgery, it can still flare up and cause an issue for a few weeks.
  13. I think part of the issue was that the bullpen was so burned out. When starters kept getting shelled, they went through guys quickly and relied on them for too long. The starting core might be a bit more improved, Harvey has some fresh blood, Armstrong was a pick up by Elias, and who knows who else in the pen will be from an Elias move.
  14. Started spending too much time on here and not enough in the batting cages.
  15. Just singled in the 9th as a pinch hitter. Resume breathing.
  16. Then the Orioles said “hold my beer” and drafted Josh Hart a few drafts later.
  17. You’re kidding, right? These are MLB(ish) players who should be able to show their adjustments as soon as it is mentioned to them. Hess should be throwing immaculate innings and both Sisco and Mullins should be hitting 1.000. Hope they all get refunds. ?
  18. Maybe Jomar Reyes can recommend a nice place in Frederick for a few seasons.
  19. Sisco and Mullins both also said they went to hitting camps and made adjustments. Haven’t seen much change or improvement either.
  20. What would you consider “still not hitting?” Is it contact, power, etc?
  21. I don’t think they care about getting him some consistent looks. He’s not competing for a spot and is probably going to the minor league camp by the end of the week to work with pitchers (or whenever they want to start that process.)
