  1. At the time, $55 mill which seams cheap by today's standards, was the richest contract at the time he was inked. Thats not something a team afraid to spend would do. Some would argue whether is was wise or not. Yes, he had no history of injury. Trumbo does not belong n the same conversation as Davis or Belle. 3 year 37.5 at today's salaries isnt in the same stratosphere as the richest contract or Davis crazy money.
  2. albert belle comes to mind, his was health issues, and they recouped some of that through insurance. they seam to spend well from 2013 to 2018, but didnt have too much to show for it, they spend as a mid market team, in a small market. I think with MASN, that allowed them to step up some.
  3. but, it pains me to see other posters claim the orioles are too tight to spend the money. they spend too freely at times, and times when they should, they don't, and I find it aggravating as a fan.
  4. I try and avoid Bethesda, Rockville, Kenninston, etc. Gaithersburg and north is ok, the ICC is sweet.
  5. The Orioles have spent money over the years, but one could argue that they was not fiscally responsible in their spending.
  6. By the time they get to Bowie, I will know their names, and get to watch them.
  7. Considering the baby boomers start at 1948, or something like that.
  8. I know you are, but one can not speak well when they have no clue to add to the conversation. Wait, when that stop anybody in OH before?
  9. No, but reading the list and learning names.
  10. I think its more of a trend that MLB has a bit of an attendance issue and losing fans as they get older. No, the game is far from dying, if only they could tweak it a bit.
  11. I think Ortiz was just a toss in, he wasnt the center of that deal. But, lets keep kicking Dan.
  12. I am happy for them. I do not wear Nats gear. I do hope they stay good, because its good for the local economy and I can still dream of a parkway WS.
  13. NWSL is a joke comparing to MLB ratings. MLB pulls in the millions and NWSL can barely tap 100K
  14. Zimm did enjoy some success in the playoffs, clearly, he isnt what he once was.
  15. I think also overlooked was spending the money for Scherzer who had earned every penny and then some.
  16. 6 years is big accomplishment. Yes, some guys win with teams built and handed off to them. at the end of the day, you got to give the man some credit. Its not like he was a 6 year manager of a last place team in the dungeons of MLB.
  17. I think his record reflects more accomplishments than you give him credit for Team From To Regular season record Post–season record G W L Win % G W L Win % St. Louis Cardinals 2012 2018 1065 591 474 .555 43 21 22 .48
  18. despite 93 wins, thats funny. League Winners have won with lesser amounts.
  19. I think MLB has a ways to go before they are finished Considering how many channels there are, its hard to pull down the same ratting as when there was only 4 channels in the market.
  20. better get our playoff tickets now, before they sell out.
  21. I guess DC is not so shabby anymore. I found this clip from Bleacher Reports and 2012. How eerie their prediction was.
  22. McDonald was a good draft pick, just hurt by how his College coach overused his arm. Been a lot of busts, but, if you look hard enough at the other teams, you will see a host of failures.
  23. Your right, I looked at the wrong dang line: Pythagorean W-L: 82-80
  24. No, Baltimore could not support a NHL team, with the caps nearby, there isnt enough fan base for that. I havent followed NBA in decades, but I suspect you are right. Im shocked that DC the size it is, can support 5 teams.
  25. MLB also allowed Owners without cash resources to fund a team, buy a team. Look at Short leaving for Texas.
