  1. I didn't know the trade portion wouldn't be announced until the draft was over so the suspense will continue to build!! Cooper feels there is a chance the Orioles could essentially trade their pick today, which is No. 2 after Detroit selects No. 1. Were that to happen, unless something has changed from last year, the Orioles would make a selection and the trade would be announced after the draft ends. They got Drew Jackson that way last year. He was selected by Philadelphia and acquired by the O’s after the draft.
  2. Here's an idea. The Astros are trying to shed payroll. They've shopped Josh Reddick and his one year $13M contract without success. MLBTR today suggesting Abraham Toro might be added in with a bad contract to make a trade work. Toro is the stros #5 prospect. Would you take Reddick and his $13M salary plus Toro if we're only giving up a minimal return?
  3. Isn't as simple as they want to upgrade?
  4. Fair enough but this article on the Cozart trade just seemed to be going out of his way to find an issue that didn't exist. Nothing suggest Elias valued the prospect or wanted to pursue the trade the Giants made. Elias strikes me as someone who is very truthful with his comments, maybe even more so than he should. But his comment was not worthy of an article questioning whether he had authority to make a deal, in my opinion. I'm new here. Tell me if I'm wrong. And I have every confidence that you will.
  5. Dan Connolly will probably suggest the O's traded back in the Rule 5 draft for budgetary reasons. That should be a 6-8 page thread.

    Gerritt Cole to NYY

I think Arte made promises to get Maddon. I think they get Price, Rendon goes to Texas but the Angels spend big on one more too. Not sure who yet. Billy Eppler may be happy to mortgage the future to make sure he's a GM for another 365.
  7. Maybe you saw different quotes or know more but I'd question based on what looks like Elias spoke with Boras and a member of the Boras group and they want to "make sure they're coordinated". Executive vice president/general manager Mike Elias confirmed this afternoon that he spoke last week with Boras and “a member of his team that’s sort of health and player performance oriented for their group and we just want to make sure we’re coordinated in the plan for him this winter and making sure that Chris and the Boras Corporation and the Orioles all have an understanding of what we want to get accomplished.” “So this is one area where teams and agents are on the same page, keeping them healthy and having them play well and so yeah, this is something we do. But the Boras Corporation is a large agency, they’ve got a lot resources at their disposal and they’re good in this area, so it makes sense to plug in with them.” https://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2019/12/elias-on-davis-contracts-stewart-mountcastle-and-more.html
  8. Or...if the Nats and O's would just get along my life would be easier. Therefore, I deem it viable.
  9. Right. And I'm not sure 12.8 is the limit. The deal said "and cash considerations" which is speculated to be Wilson's signing bonus of about $3.4M. Maybe "cash considerations" is only the Cozart contract. Either way, nothing about that suggests what Connolly wrote in my opinion.
  10. There's no indication Elias liked the prospect or wanted to pursue that deal at all.
  11. And then people would connect the dots...Elias...Houston...electronic cheating
  12. I thought that's where you were headed but there won't be any successful breach of contract action here.
  13. Can we not hire a robo caller that steals local numbers. Call from some sushi restaurant's number. He might pick up.
  14. But not as huge as he used to be. Gee, I sure hope Chris is home when they go to visit him in Dallas.
  15. I think "priority" is the right word. Pitcher and SS is where all signs lean so far.
  16. Thanks. The detail you put into each profile takes away a lot of the questions. I appreciate it.
  17. @Luke-OH Thanks for this list. Tons and tons of detail. I think the O's are looking for ceiling with a pitcher rather than a higher floor which makes me think Wandisson Charles. But a stash year might really deter his development. Any thoughts on whether command can realistically be developed in an MLB year as opposed to a minor league year? Is it accurate to say that Yonny Hernandez and Jose Fermin would provide adequate MLB SS defense today? And which winds up with the better career?
  18. Not only that but a 22nd round pick as a catcher who had a bad arm and hadn't hit all that well in college.
  19. It worked when he was 9. Maybe it'll work again.
  20. Boras: "we've instituted an aggressive training approach where if Chris hits 3 line drives out of 10, we take him to Dairy Queen."
