Yeah, I’m not blaming Perez for that inning.

Roy, There's more anxiety for sure now that they're contending and the games actually mean something.
I’ve got to disagree. The O’s are coming off a 101 win season. The pace that they on so far this year will surpass that. They’ve clearly established themselves as a top 3-ish or team in baseball.
Obviously they need to win these games to make the playoffs. But we’re at a point now that the wins that truly matter are the ones in the playoffs.
In the meantime, we have a 162 game regular season to get through. It’s 162 games. That is A LOT.
A Sunday afternoon blowout loss to Arizona is fairly meaningless. If I miss a game here or there on tv, it’s not a big deal. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
Certain games will have a big time feel to them, but for me I’m going to just enjoy watching the games and the young talent, and hope we can just fast forward to the playoffs where the games will truly matter.

Melanie Newman is great at doing the pre and post game shows much better than Rob Long. Rob Long is good doing sports talk radio on 105.7 The Fan, but I've never like his delivery on MASN.
I will give Newman credit she has improved at play by play and she pairs well with Ben McDonald on the broadcast. I'd rather see her on MASN than Scott Garceau where before I was indifferent to either one.
I'm not familiar with Long's work outside of the Orioles, as I live out of town. I watch all of the O's games through MLB.tv.
I really do not like Long. I think he makes the MASN broadcasts seem less credible compared to other team's broadcasts.
I'm not a fan of Melanie Newman on play-by-play but I agree that I think she sounded better than usual the past two games.

Surprised the Braves and Phillies aren't on there I guess they've been beating up on weak teams.
The Phillies have played a whopping 6 games against teams above .500, and have a 3-3 record against them.

+31 run differential on 5-5-23. +55 run differential on 5-5-24.
Of course I’m posting this strategically coming off of back-to-back series wins and a 11-1 win.
Another stat - there are six teams in the MLB that have a winning record against teams above .500:
Orioles: 14-5
Dodgers: 10-5
Yankees: 8-5
Guardians: 11-7
Rangers: 11-8
Cubs: 8-7

Santander has never had a good April. It’s just a matter of time until he gets going.

We won 11-1 instead of 11-0 and we want more. Welcome to being an Orioles fan in 2024!

Why did Hyde send him out for one guy?
Idk, but I’m not going to nitpick about something like this in an 11-0 game.

Suarez going for the save!!!!
First (and only other save in his career) since 2017.

Let's hope his too-early call-up won't have long-term repercussions for his development.
If these numbers were before his call-up no one would make much of them.

If I were a Reds fan, I would not want to play the Orioles for years and years and years after watching this series.

O's trying to go from 1st to worst on the basepaths in a single game.
Why is Westburg of all people so sketchy on pickoffs lately?

The Orioles 4-6 pitchers (when healthy) just dominated this series.

He simply doest have the stamina to dominate in back to back appearances, and he'll be 36 in 3 weeks. I realize thats the LAST thing you want to hear about a closer, but Kiimbrel simply cannot be effective with a lot of pitches or innings. Id like to see a closer by committee with Kimbrel maybe going twice a week...with 3 or so days in between. Then maybe consider Suarez, Cano, maybe Wells(when hes back) and then Kimbrel. I cant endure any more stress when this guy pitches...its like watching Don Stanhouse load the bases in every save situation and find a way out...And also, lets forget the Orioles need to score more runs to give these guys some room for error...I also say we MUST sit Santander, and maybe Cowser until they can figure out a strategy with coaches and avoid unproductive at bats...and Mullins isn't much better right now...though he's showing signs of breaking out.
Do you have a checklist that you’re going through of who to create a reverse jinx thread about?
If Kimbrel, Santander and Mullins go on hot streaks, who will we be complaining about next?
Are we going to get a Gunnar thread when he goes into a prolonged slump?I’m cool with most of your reactionary thoughts. Look, the O’s pitching wasn’t going great and the Yankees bats were hot. I’m skeptical about Bradish and his injury, and I’m skeptical about Means in general. Kimbrel makes me feel uneasy.
But we MUST sit Santander? Really?
-
Does anyone think Kremer is more than a #4 or a #5 for this team? I don’t think he’d regress beyond that. He’s an MLB level starting pitcher. But he’s a 4 or a 5.
When Bradish and Means were injured, and Kremer needed to perform like a #3, this could have been an issue. But between him and Irvin rounding out the rotation, I’m not concerned right now.
-
O’Hearn is another guy who should be mentioned. I think many of us thought that he was a guy who would regress this year and be usurped by one of the many young prospects. He and Mountcastle have provided much more beef in the middle of the lineup than expected. Especially with a Santander who has yet to get going. O’Hearn seems here to stay.
This team is better than last year’s team. That was something I thought heading into the season even with the Bradish injury. I think the rotation is just that much better and there’s more talent with the position players. But winning more games is another thing.
I took the under on wins before the season. Looks like I’m going to be wrong on that one. I don’t know if they’ll match last year’s win total, but I have more confidence in this team come playoff time.

Just want to clarify what Girardi said about Mountcastle, to break up any confusion on what he said or by what I meant he said. Not trying to derail the topic off of Cowser, just want to clarify.
After the commentary team talked about how the Orioles are aggressive at the plate and don't walk, Girardi said:
"Talking about the young hitters with the Orioles, the fourth highest in chase rate. But Mountcastle isn't one of those guys. He's in the top, uh, lowest 8th percent of chase. But we just got him to chase that good cutter."
Take that however you want.

Orioles attendance 2024
in Orioles Talk
Posted · Edited by dzorange
Baltimore really hasn’t had many great draws so far. In one sense, the Yankees Monday through Thursday was great because they got decent crowds out of days that normally draw the worst crowds. But Oakland, Arizona, Seattle on the weekends is rough. Tampa is in a few weeks as well. You’re not getting out of towners for those.
I’m not expecting great attendance numbers for this upcoming week.
