  1. I'm not going to criticize Hyde because he has been really good most of the year and he is going to win manager of the year..... However, Baseball 101, never put the go ahead run on base
  2. I'm taking bets .... We will have a all homegrown lineup on the field next year at some point, it may not be our everyday lineup but it will happen.....I should get 50 t0 1 from the nae sayers
  3. LOL !!!!! " a bit controversial " Yea let's fire the manager of the year.....SMH...LOL... The O's have out performed where the numbers suggest they should be and you want to fire the manager for over performing..... People need to think with their brains not the heart....LOL
  4. Yes I was being sarcastic..... The O's have been the most consistent team in the AL all season but for some reason we always seem to get these " THE SKY HAS FALLEN " posts.....SMH
  5. Nick Markakis !!!!! very steady player with one great 6 war season and a 4 war season but I believe inconsistent defensive metrics cost him big time in his career war totals...Playing in parks with small right fields and ball hogs in centerfielders can't help but he sure did pass the eye test as a right fielder with a lot of assists
  6. The sky has fallen....SMH.... I'm very concerned and I just don't think we can compete with any of these AL playoff teams considering how consistent and steady they have been.... We are just to inconsistent !!!! Having two four game losing streaks for the year just isn't playoff worthy....LOL
  7. I would be looking for a friendly 2/3 year extension...Hard to find switch hitters with 30+ homer power that can hit in the middle of the lineup of course that does make him a good trade candidate... They could also sell high on O'hearn so it will be a interesting off season
  8. I've heard GROD say he brought a lot to the team and he said he gets really intense before his starts and it has helped the rest of the staff turn it up a notch... Sounds to me he fits in fine and I'm sure his perceived attitude/body language is directed to himself for not doing his job
  9. I agree and it sure is fun being a O's fanatic now and enjoyable dreaming on the future....I extend Santander this winter and trade Urias and Mateo in packages for a couple high leverage bull pin arms and then I trade Cowser and Ortiz for a TOR pitcher....I then bring up Mayo, Hjerstad and Holliday out of spring training and let them fight it out for ROY.... Rutchman C/DH, Henderson SS, Santander RF/DH, Hays LF/CF, Mullins CF, Mountcastle 1b/DH, O'hearn 1b/DH/COF, Westburg 3B/2B/SS, Holliday 2B/SS, Mayo 3B/1B/DH, Hjerstad COF/DH, McCann C and McKenna CF/COF/DR/PR That's a roster you can stack against righties or lefties
  10. All teams from travel ball to MLB teach the same approach...Control the strike zone and swing at balls in the strike zone....Like I said most players need some time to adjust to major league pitchers and the bigger strike zone.....some of the best prospects in baseball never make that adjustment because they don't have the patients to stay with the approach that got them there or they aren't talented enough
  11. Yes a cop out is a lot easier....lol....Just look at rookie stats and you'll see that it isn't team based but talent based......But there are a lot of teams not having good luck with their rookies...like STL....However the players with a good approach and talent will make the adjustment to big league pitching
  12. Every team that didn't have a player vying for a rookie of the year award the last two years....
  13. Yes I agree !!! instead we're out of a wildcard spot looking up at the Blue Jays......
  14. Making the jump from AAA to MLB is all about adjusting to better pitchers, sure you can cherry pick players that make the jump look easy but most don't and most never carry a OPS near what they had in the minors
  15. We would be looking up at the Blue Jays if we didn't get the hot streaks from our veterans like Frazier, Mateo, Hicks and even McCann to a less extent.....just saying we should stay with what's been working
  16. Facing better pitchers with a bigger strike zone is what changes it's not the approach and some can adjust to better pitchers and some never do.....It would be easier if they had the same strike zone and rules in MLB
  17. Hitters will adjust to any strike zone if it's consistent
  18. The problem is people spell words how they pronounce them and rednecks like me would go cal / va /ry not cav / al / ry
  19. I'm confused !!! How does their approach make them look better than they are ????.....Maybe they are having trouble adjusting to the big strike zone in the majors since they have the automated strike zone in AAA.....If you have a good approach and the talent your going to be a good hitter period...
  20. Only if he gets over 130 AB's....service time doesn't count after Sept 1, at least that's my interpretation of the rule... excluding is the key word......
  21. " To qualify as a rookie in Major League Baseball (MLB), a player must not have exceeded 130 at bats or fifty innings pitched in the majors, and also fewer than 45 days on the active rosters of major league clubs (excluding time on the disabled list or any time after rosters are expanded on September 1) in their previous year "
  22. Any player in the Org on August 31st can be added to the playoff roster but if they're not on the 40 they have to replace someone that is on the IL and the league has to OK it
  23. While he is really playing great, there is some luck going on. Watch those 5 hits here. 3 fairly hard ground balls that found holes, an infield dink, then finally elevated something and hit a triple off the wall. It wouldn't have taken much for that to be a 1-5. I see it different, I see a guy with a 70 hit tool putting the ball where they're not playing to get on base and then driving the ball when he had runners on base...The dink was the only lucky hit I seen........
  24. Yeah now I see it, I confused myself...lol.... " not advocating " Sorry
  25. Thats a given, however I not sure if it will be SS or 2B...but I believe Henderson will stay a SS and Holliday will play 2B and Westburg will be at 3B of course they're interchangeable....Westburg could end up being a super utility guy that plays just about everyday if Mayo can stick at 3B, Westburg could rotate thru the infield and the corner outfield positions but I believe Mayo is ticketed for DH and 1B
