  1. He's been terrible in 10 innings in AAA he has 6 walks and has hit 3 batters.... SMH..... It's going to be a long season considering that our pitching has only pitch well enough to win 2 games so far this year, we're just lucky that our offense has been baling them out or we would be 2 and 11
  2. Mckenna may be hearing the footsteps of Hudson Haskin but that would take a 40 man roster move.... Send Mckenna through waivers ???
  3. You can move you catcher that is DHing back behind the plate in a emergency and let the pitcher hit or pinch hit for him
  4. You can't have it both ways.... LOL ..... If you obviously want your more productive hitters getting more at bats then lineup construction does matter.... SMH .... I copied and pasted this from the article in the link you provided as your research that lineup construction doesn't matter Ultimately, though, all these thoughts are fairly futile. Almost every study done on it has shown that batting order makes almost no difference to a game's or a season's outcome, perhaps a game or two a year at most. The idea that the batting order is important, like the idea that there have to be set relief pitching roles, is truly fairly silly and does not need to be a major point of concern for teams, managers or fans perhaps that game or two is the difference of making the playoffs
  5. Rutschman is a great catcher but he doesn't walk on water and that's what it seems we need to help this pitching staff ...
  6. We have had 2 well pitched games out of 12 and Bemboom caught 1 and Rutschman caught 1 and we had 1 other pitching performance that was okay against the Yankees that we lost 1 to 4 that Rutschman caught
  7. I agree we do need to win tomorrow but I sure don't agree that we deserved to lose tonight..... I guess it depends on your perspective..lol.... I believe we should win games that we score four runs ..... So by my perspective our offense should be 9 and 3 and our pitching/defense should be 2 and 10.....SMH.... I guess we should thank our lucky star that we are playing 500 ball and I'm sure we can agree if we don't start pitching and playing defense it's going to be a long season
  8. Yes the outfield defense has been terrible but I think they were put in a position to fail, Hays and Santander should play where they got the most experience and not moved around because of the dimensions so Mckenna should have been in right field today and he probably would have made that play that Hays misplayed and Hays would have squeezed the last out.....SMH.. different reads off the bat and different ball flights
  9. I agree Spring lineups don't matter much and I'm not to concerned with the numbers that veterans put up in the spring either.... Like most on this board I didn't like the Frazier signing only because he's blocking some of our young talent but he has been an above average player most of his career with the outliner being 2020 with a 246 BABIP and 2022 with a 268 BABIP
  10. 1 ) Mullins CF, 2 ) Vavra 2B, 3 ) Rutschman C, 4 ) Santander 1B, 5 ) Henderson 3B, 6 ) Stowers LF, 7 ) Frazier RF, 8 ) Cordero DH, 9 ) Mateo SS ( only righty ) I could see this scenario if they believe Frazier is a better defender in the outfield than Vavra
  11. I don't think Frazier will see much time in the outfield but that could change depending on who takes the 24, 25 and 26 roster spots but even then I can't see him starting much in the outfield unless we're going with a lefty lineup
  12. I love Vavras OBP and he had a great spring but I believe they send him down to work on his defense as a super utility guy and I also think they send Mckenna down to get everyday atbats and Daz and O'hearn make the 26man....
  13. Daz is having a good spring and has a higher floor/ceiling than Mckenna so yea he's in big jeopardy and there will be a couple spots opening up on the 40man when Means and I believe Johnson are put on the 60day Floor my be even but I think Daz has more upside
  14. Yea this looks like our everyday lineup with a heavy rotation of Stowers and Vavra while rotating everyone thru DH
  15. Urias said the WBC wouldn't provide medical insurance coverage due to concerns about the knee that he injured last in the season in Boston. The Orioles don't share those concerns. I seen this in a MASN article wrote by Roch
  16. Hmmmm !!!! funny how a simple questions can make your head spin...lol.. If Mullins is setting we're probably facing a lefty and since we don't have any other right hand hitting outfielders that's capable of playing left so it would have to be Stowers and I'm not to sure of how well he can hit lefties point taken....McKenna looks pretty secure now that I'm thinking inside the box at least until we find a right hand hitter that can play left and I see none on the horizon...
  17. I'm not a rocket scientist but I believe the rotation is set barring injury.... Gibson, Irvin, Bradish, Kremer, and Rodriguez... Wells will be the long man and get spot starts to manage innings, I see him getting around 15 starts unless Means makes it back to his pre surgery form ( figures Crossed ) Hall goes to AAA to work on his walk rate... I could also see us going to a 12 man staff for the first 20/26 days or so with all the off days giving the 26th man a little more time to battle it out in meaningful games I have stayed at a Holiday Inn express before
  18. Yes he saw less AB's against lefties last year, he played in 156 games so he wasn't platooned we probably just faced less LHP's last year and maybe he did set 6 games because we faced tough lefties and maybe he didn't start some of them games and came in late for defense, However Hays can cover center in the handful of games that Mullins is going to set 2021 - 602 AB's - vs LHP's 224 AB's - vs RHP's 378 - 159 G's 2022 - 608 AB's - vs LHP's 182 AB'S - vs RHP's 426 - 156 G's
  19. Hays can back up Mullins and that 794 OPS vs lefties was a very small sample size for McKenna and he was terrible against righties.... Mullins will not be Platooned
  20. I don't think Vavra is on the bubble I believe McKenna is the odd man out and the 26th spot is a fight between Diaz ( defense ) and O'hearn
  21. You are correct, Sam and Leo are from the Cumberland area
  22. Thanks for the warm welcomes !!!!!!
  23. Seems to me some people around here are overvaluing Ortiz and I believe the evaluators, coaches and Elias would have called up Ortiz and Westburg during the wildcard race last year if they thought they were close to being ready and they sure wouldn't have sign Frazier....I also believe Mateo could be a lot more valuable than we could get out of him in a potential trade so I would rather give him another year of atbats to see if he can breakout unless someone wants to overpay
  24. Hello Everyone !! I'm introducing myself to let you all know a little bit about me and my thoughts. My name is Brian and I'm from Cumberland, MD ( western, MD ) but I reside across the river now in West Virginia I'm 5' 8" and 180# with brown hair and blue eyes and I'm a 54 year old truck driver. ( whoops wrong forum ) lol...... I'm old school and I like the stats on the back of the baseball cards but I have learned they are best used now for a quick reference because of all the new analytical stats available however I'm still a big fan of OBP ( #1 ) and SLG... enough about me !!! My thoughts on the direction of our beloved Orioles, the off season and what I think needs to happen for us to have a successful season.. With 8 players on the top 100 prospect list and all the young talent on 40 man roster our future looks great so I really like how Elias has built the system from the ground up. I'm just a little disappointed about liftoff so I wonder if Elias and ownership can take the next step... The talk was a top of the rotation pitcher and a middle of the order bat that would take professional abats from the left side. ( Carlos Rodon and JD Martinez ) I know Rodon was probably overpaid and Martinez had a down year but they are the types of player we should have been after and hopefully we can make a trade in season to fill our needs when we have a clearer picture...Of course we need all our young players to take another step forward to have a successful year but we need to have Hays and Mountcastle breakout but my wildcard is Mateo and he has showed flashes of being a five tool player and that would make it easier to trade some middle infield depth for a TOP and middle of the order bat... Since I'm a optimist I think Henderson and Rodriguez will fight it out all year for ROY and we'll trade for Ohtani and win the WS and sign the later to a long term deal
