  1. Tonight was the ideal 7th, 8th, and 9th innings of relief coming off a strong start by Bradish. If we can get our starter to get into the sixth inning with a lead, then we should win most of those games with Coulombe, or Cionel or Baker if it’s a bunch of righties, Cano, and then Felix. Any talk of deviating from this formula is just stupid. Remember when the Yankees had Mariano and then Wetteland, it was game over by the eight inning.
  2. Who else do we have that is an actual home run threat? Sure Cedric, Santandar, and Hays has some pop but we need a guy in the middle of the lineup that the other team fears. Monty is on pace for 35 dingers this year. Can’t recall the last Oriole to hit for that many. Again he can improve but I think he will only get better especially next year when he turns 27.
  3. Went back ad looked at the Ohtani AB and I’m not sure I would call it foolish. He threw an inside fastball and then what looked like a slider on the outside that Shohei hit a weak grounder to second. It was a good out. His first inning of work tonight, he had a couple balls that were hit hard but luckily right at someone. Angels kind of bailed him out as they swung at early pitches. Noticed Cionel seemed to land off the rubber much more to the right side. Almost to the point that he just did a 180 to get back on the mound. Maybe just me but it appeared that way.
  4. 2 good innings doesn’t constitute Cionel is back to last year’s form. He used his off speed pitches a good amount tonight (keeping it down) and that helped him with his 4 seam. Hopefully all the off days has helped him with his confidence. Coulombe has been a pleasant surprise but the back end could really use an effective Cionel.
  5. Not sure why some of the hate on Mountcastle? Sure he isn’t the best defensive first base but he’s serviceable IMO and still has less than 2 seasons playing the position so hopefully he will improve. As for hitting, he’s only 26 and this is just his third full season in the majors. I think he will get better and don’t see him as a career .250 hitter. Plus right now he’s really our only true home run threat. It just seems like some are ready to give up on him. Chris Davis was given up on by Texas in my opinion way too early. I’m interested to see Cowser and Westburg but be careful what you wish for. No assurance that either will thrive in the majors.
  6. Mad dog is the worst, almost unwatchable like Stephen A. I saw Russo on ESPN once stating that Cooper Kupp doesn’t need to play another down and would make the Hall of Fame. This was just last year. He completely lost all credibility on sports after saying that.
  7. Stowers has looked overmatched in every at bat I have seen him this season. Can he be a solid player in the future? Maybe, based on what he did last year. He’s a young player. In my opinion and for his personal development, I hope he is in the minors the rest of the year and doesn’t get called back up to be a bench player or spot starter. Give him 400 abs at Norfolk, reset, and let him come to camp next year.
  8. I read somewhere that McKenna is a little dinged up which is why Vavra went in as the defensive replacement in RF. As for your statement about Stowers and his patience at the plate… he struck out at a 30% clip in 2022 in the minors. That’s Adam Dunn patience.
  9. I realize Stowers is a young top prospect but he needs to be sent down and allowed to play a full season in the minors. We can’t afford to have him learning on the job as we are no longer a rebuilding team. I didn’t realize that last year at Norfolk he had 104Ks in just 349 at bats. That 30% strike out ratio shows he doesn’t have plate discipline yet.
  10. I am not as familiar with the whole ownership situation with Angelos and his intentions on owning the team long term. However it would be great if the Os followed the same script as the Braves who have locked up all their young talent for years to come. Obviously it would cost a lot upfront but I think there would be savings long term as contracts are really ridiculous right now and just getting more outrageous.
  11. Living in Philly it’s hard for me to get to Camden Yards but I saw this new promotion and think it’s a good idea. Once the weather gets really hot, I’m sure it will get sold out as it is for tomorrows game. At my age, I’m not interested getting soaked on but there will always be teens or 20 year olds that would love it. Saw some girls with goggles on tonight. It’s a good promo and Bird Bath is the perfect name.
  12. Can someone explain why Stowers hasn’t been sent down? I mean I know he’s a left handed outfield bat but I haven’t seen him with a quality at bat maybe all year.
  13. Our starting rotation is really starting to come together but I feel in order to advance in the playoffs, we will need to trade for a top notch front line pitcher before the tradeline. I loved to get a vet who has some playoff experience. Just my 2 cents.
  14. Hey fellas … first post but been an Os fan for 45 years. Grew up with watching Eddie Murray (my favorite player growing up) and obviously Cal. Anyway the Cano story is pretty terrific. His movement on his pitches is just amazing. I think it is easy to wanna move him to the closer role but I think we have a great situation w him as the setup guy with Felix remaining as the closer. This situation reminds me of Mariano and John Wetteland with the Yankees. I think it was 1996 or 97. Once they got a lead going into the 8th, it was game over. Hopefully we have the same situation this year. Oh as great as Rivera was, he only had one pitch that no one could hit.
