    • I must admit, last night's game was the first I've watched with her calling PBP.  I thought she was pretty awful...     I acknowledge that this may be just a matter of personal taste, kind of like with music...
    • The Nats guys didn't miss it at all, just saying.
    • I remember last year when we would see highlights of Holliday swinging, people were in awe of the leg kick and just the overall beauty of the swing. 30 ML at bats later and people think it’s going to end his career.  This site never ceases to amaze me how often some poster fly off the handle over small sample sizes.
    • A quick Google search will show you that she's been calling softball and baseball games since college, including in the minor leagues.  Not knowing the game is not the issue w/ Melanie.  There's no reason to require a female PBP announcer to have played the game at any level.  Do you think Kevin Brown played at a high level?  By his own self-deprecating admission, he clearly did not. She shouldn't be doing PBP because she's bad at it, not because she doesn't know how baseball works.
    • To be fair I don’t have access to radio so my only experience with her is when she’s forced onto TV PBP, as was the case with a few Apple games, and she was borderline unbearable. So it’s been a while. Then again, I only knew Tommy Hunter from TV where I couldn’t stand him, but read on this board that he was decent on radio broadcasts. It’s two different skill sets, to be sure.
