  1. O'Hearn has 4 more walks than strikeouts this year. That didn't used to be special, but it is in today's game. As far as I can see, Rafael Palmeiro in 2004 was the last to do it for the Orioles in a full season of ABs and he wasn't much of a hitter by then.
  2. I've always found Spotrac to be the most accurate. It has the Os as 28th also. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/tax/_/year/2024/sort/tax_total
  3. I just noticed McCann hasn't walked yet this year in 58 PAs Someone named Craig Robinson (not the actor) had 148 PAs without a walk for the Phillies in 1973. That seems to be the modern record.
  4. This is a bench position for sure. The Milkman is the starting LF now. Career wRC+ vs LHP: Hays - 111 McKenna - 82 McKenna is a better defender by the fielding stats, but I don't trust him. He's a goofball. The starting OF defense is strong anyway so we're not desperate for a defensive replacement.
  5. Os and Mets FOs look for similar things in relievers. We've seen a few waiver guys hopping back and forth. Look at Reed Garrett's numbers this year for them.
  6. Catching fWAR since 2022: 1. Adley 12.2 2. Sean Murphy 10.1 3. Will Smith 9.9 4. William Contreras 9.4 5. JT Realmuto 9.3 The best catcher in baseball and it's not close.
  7. I'm not a believer in Maverick Handley. His only notable offensive tool is his eye. He's essentially Brett Cumberland offensively. Guys who don't hit for average or power in the minors but have a great eye tend to get blown away by ML stuff in the zone. If his defense is outstanding (and I can't evaluate that), he could be a Caleb Joseph type backup catcher but that's it.
  8. Dean really is a gamer. I love the intensity he brings on the mound. I don't want him starting any more playoff games, but he's a legit bottom of the rotation starter. And he's been more valuable than Machado was in a few months for the Dodgers, so I guess Dan won that trade in the end
  9. Can someone explain Terry Crowley to me? I was too young to watch him play. Is he being inducted as a coach or for longevity with the organization? He had less plate appearances and was a worse overall hitter for the Orioles than Luke Scott. I'm not trying to be a hater, just trying to understand.
  10. Love your passion, Roy. That was a statement series. Snatched first place right from them. The Os are a better hitting, better running, better pitching, and better fielding team than the Yanks right now.
  11. Jahmai Jones is on the Yankees now?!?? Dibs on him for Immaculate Grid, nobody else use him. Great win, Mateo getting hot for a bit would be great until Holliday is ready again.
  12. Of course he's confident. He built the best offense in the AL without signing a single free agent or big trade. By fWAR, we have the 10th best pitching staff in baseball right now and that's despite bullpen issues, and 3 SP injuries. None of which seem to be long-term issues. This is a really, really good team. And they're on pace for over 100 wins. I get that it's not the nature of sports fans, but I'm just sitting back and enjoying. I trust Mike and Sig and Eve.
  13. I'm with you Roy. I watched every at bat that Stevie Wilkerson, Pat Valaika, and Dwight Smith Jr. took for this team. This young, fun, talented team is our reward and I'm enjoying every second. But even if they still stunk, I'm not going anywhere. Don't forget, you're here forever.
  14. +10 defense for me. 10 runs is 10 runs. But on defense, I think there's a small, hidden bonus in there of getting pitchers off the field, keeping them healthy, and keeping them pitching with confidence.
  15. Reminds me of Miguel Gonzalez, who came out of nowhere to be a major contributor to some playoff runs. I doubt he ends up as a rotation mainstay. But I was certain O'Hearn would turn into a pumpkin after a few weeks too and he still hasn't.
