  1. I don’t know what the Hays injury situation is, but this may be a very short call-up for McKenna. I think Hays is eligible to come off the IL on Wednesday.
  2. I’m not too surprised about Holliday. I’m somewhat surprised about McKenna. I guess they want an option for late inning defense in the OF for Santander or Kjerstad.
  3. I must be in the minority. I pay no attention to what uniforms and caps are worn on a given day. You could ask me five minutes after the game what caps the team wore, and I wouldn’t be able to tell you. But I could tell you what happened in the game in vivid detail.
  4. Their record says otherwise. But I’d be happy for you to be proven right.
  5. My guess is they’ll just go in the present order: GRod, Kremer, Burnes, Irvin.
  6. Generally it allows the runner to slide well outside home plate and just swipe the hand to tag home, which doesn’t present much of a target.
  7. I doubt the O’s will look past it, given that Oakland just beat the Yankees 2 out of 4 in the Bronx.
  8. In 26 games, the A’s have scored 4+ runs only 9 times, and 5+ only 3 times. The O’s have been held under 4 runs only 4 times and under 5 runs only 10 times in 24 games.
  9. I was wondering when we’d hear from you about Abrams. We’ll see if his hot start is for real. Great news for the Nats if he is as good as he’s looked this month. They could use a few breaks.
  10. How many people actually said they were one of the greatest teams ever? They did hit the snot out of the ball the first 9 games of the year, mostly in a 6 game series in a very hitter-friendly ball park against a bad pitching staff. That said, they’re still second in the league in runs per game. Their pitching has been problematic, yielding 6.50 runs per game.
  11. Touché. Just let the kid play for a while and we’ll see what we have.
  12. The idea that Bradfield was likely to be ready for the majors by the start of 2025 was always pretty ridiculous. That said, it’s way too early to say how 2024 will go, and I don’t take “struggles” in 13 games very seriously. I would consider it disappointing if he didn’t play well enough to get 150+ PA at Bowie this year. It’s way too soon to know how his season will go.
  13. Where are you seeing a bunch of negative EBJ takes?
  14. They’ve been losing ever since Holliday got called up, and now they’re down Kjerstad as well. Their big five is now a big three (Mayo, Norby, Stowers). It’s still surprising to see how poorly they’ve played of late.
  15. Baumeister threw 4.2 scoreless innings last night, 2 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts. He pounded the strike zone, throwing 49 strikes in 71 pitches. In 14 innings spanning 4 outings, he’s got a 1.93 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 11.6 K/9, 1.8 K/BB. The walks have been high, 10 in 14 innings, but not crazy high for a guy just getting his feet wet. Decent start for Baumeister.
