  1. McKenna for sure, Hilliard could still make it as a 5th outfielder type if they don't want Cowser sitting on the bench. Kjerstad will be the 4th OF/DH so there is still a chance for left-handed hitting outfielder to spell Hays against a tough righty and be a defensive replacement for Kjestad or Santander late in games.
  2. Anyone have the Just Regular decoder ring on this one?
  3. Ha, I had to go look back at what I wrote! Sorry to report to you that it should have been striking instead streaking!
  4. So you take a few comments and surmise it's the entire board's thoughts? maybe you should respond to the poster that you disagree with vs saying "the board" or acting like everyone has the same thoughts. i would think someone with 2.4K posts here would kinda understand that by now.
  5. What board are you reading? Seriously. The second the injuries were announced almost every single person went ahead and scratched Irvin's name in the rotation. I had him making the team in the bullpen prior to the injuries, so most of us felt he had a role on this team.
  6. Wait, first there's hate for Irvin and now people are too excited over him? Dude, pick one and stick with it! lol At the end of the day, all of Irvin's stuff has ticked up from last year and that's a good sign. I just wished the Orioles would install statcast in Sarasota. It's annoying that we only get this data when they play away and does a disservice to the fans.
  7. He averaged 17 inches of horizontal break in his six sinkers in yesterday's outing so he's off to a good start. He got three swings and two WHIFFs off the pitch. he averaged 94 MPH on his fastball which with 1.8 MPH higher than last year's average and touched 95.9 MPH. Maybe he was hyped up or maybe he was able to do that because he knew he had only two innings, but the stuff all ticked up from last year.
  8. Updated thru yesterday's game vs Pirates.
  9. Good batters never look very uncomfortable against him despite the velocity. It's a very low spin 97-99 MPH fastball. It looks like he's gone to a cutter (according to statcast) but I always thought it was more of a bad slider. Who knows? Can't teach that velocity, but the command goes pretty quick and he still throws too many uncompetitive pitches.
  10. Well on the ball hit to the fence, he made that looks routine but it had a .925 xBA on the hit. I think that counts as making an exciting play routine. As for the other, Bradenton is known a a very hard place to track fly balls and winds can be tricky, so I'm not too concerned on him coming in that one ball and then having to dive a bit for it.
  11. He was basically who I saw last year in the minors. His slider still wasn't very good but the fastball-changeup combo seems to work a bit. I still think if he's going to be a big leaguers, it will be in the pen and he still needs to find a better and more consistent breaking ball.
  12. Nice throw by Carter Young from 3B to end the game.
  13. Actually, Matt Gorski made a hell of throw from LF to get Handley. That's a double for most left fielders. Gorski can throw but he's a terrible hitter.
  14. John Rhodes was like, "Thanks Handley." Cost him a spring training PA there.
  15. I assume he has some ancestry there? They are very loose on allowing Americans to play for those European teams.
  16. Lol on the squibber Double by Johnson. The announces are way off. The issue was Termir Johnson for some reason went to his left on a ball up the middle and didn't cover 2B like he should have. I have no idea why he went that way?
  17. 54. Ryan Long – RHP (A+/AA): Big 6-foot-6 right-hander who made his way to AA after being a 17th rounder in the 2021 draft. His fastball sits 92-94, t96 with a solid change and a well below average slider. Dominates lefties with his changeup but with a below average breaking ball, right-handers give him fits. Maybe he gets a bump in stuff if he goes to the bullpen, but either way, the slider needs to improve.
  18. Ryan Long gets to throw more than one pitch today! lol
  19. Only roster guys and NRIs get names. The minor league fill in guys don't.
  20. Yeah, Burns was playing almost at 2B. That's a no man's land ball. Hard to be too upset with Burns dropping that when he had so far to go.
  21. Man, that is what 80 speed looks like. We're already seeing what kind of speed and defense he brings.
  22. The second that ball hit the infield I knew Bradfield was going to beat that out.
  23. Poor Daniel Johnson. Trying to make the team and he keeps getting lefties and he's not good at hitting them.
