  1. They're similar in the sense that they both are a little stiff out there, don't have great hands, but have at least average second base arms though throwing on the run can be a challenge.
  2. Have to wonder why Akin was only used for one inning. Seems like you need to get 2 or 3 innings on a day like this.
  3. At least the Orioles brought their bats today. now the question is, do we have enough arms to hold them?
  4. You have to love baseball sometimes. lol.. Hicks walks and McKenna with the 2-run single in the same inning. BASEBALL..
  5. Yeah, there had to be some issue like that, especially in a game where Hyde knows he's probably going to need offense today.
  6. It's certainly not the wild wild west of social media. The game thread is much more lenient but again the board members will let you know when you've gone too far.
  7. We've been over this 100 times, but even Hyde has said he's given "input" into the lineup. Elias has said the same thing but said Hyde has final say. I'd say Hyde would make adjustments for injury, illness or other types of personal issues but takes what is given to him 99% of the time. He hasn't kept his job this long by bucking the sigbot nerds.
  8. This board properly polices itself. When you get six downvotes and someone who has been around here for 20 years makes sure you understand that's not acceptable, maybe take that advice vs complaining.
  9. Hitters sure do seem to have a hard time hitting the batting practice pitcher then. In his last 18.1 innings over 13 games, Voth has pitched to a 1.96 ERA with 18 Ks and 6 BBs. Batters have slashed .185/.280/.215/.495 off him over this span.
  10. Orioles sign Hicks and we think, well, his bat must be better than McKenna in Cf against right-handers. Orioles are like, Surprise bitches, you get a lineup of Hicks and McKenna against righthanders. Sigbot 3000 says so!
  11. Notable in that he never threw a pitch over 95 MPH after his 23rd pitch.
  12. I know the jet stream was going out t RF, but that was a impressive oppo home run by Westburg. Couldn't tell where it landed, but looked well over by the OF reaction.
  13. He also realizes as a below average defensive 2B that it will be tough to break onto a team that puts a big emphasis on defense on the dirt.
  14. It's funny because Buck was the exact opposite then Hyde when it came to his starters. He definitely would keep them out there too long too often, especially when the numbers told him the starter was terrible the 3rd time through an order or in the 7th inning.
  15. The numbers I gave disagrees with that take. I understand giving them the benefit of the doubt as you do most of the time, but we're already seeing chinks in the bullpen with Baker, Coulombe, and Baumann at one point with over use. The Orioles relievers have pitched in the 2nd most games in the MLB. That's do to quick hooks and matchup playing that Hyde likes to do as well as his aversion to using a reliever for 2 or especially 3 innings at a time. The numbers don't lie so it's not a made up narrative.
  16. But remember, the Orioles relievers overall have pitched in the 2nd most amount of games in the MLB. Regardless of who is pitching, Hyde uses a lot of different relievers per game.
  17. I get that, but sometimes guys will give up some runs and settle down. Hyde seems to pull them the second they give up a few hits or a run. Sometimes guys settle down. I've seen several times this year where the bulk reliever gives up a run and gets yanked instead of letting him work through it a bit. Then it's game on for everyone.
  18. I said the same thing basically today on 105.7 that Irvin should be the guy once they need a 5th starter every 5 days. It will be interesting to see how they navigate today.
  19. Well since that's what I thought we needed going into the offseason, I'm going to say I'm in violent agreement! lol
  20. As Frobby pointed out, his usage of his starter's seems to be the norm for the most part, but what's also obvious is that he's using too may relievers each game to cover those innings vs either using a bulk reliever or guys who can consistently cover two innings. I'm a big believer in using bulk relievers in games where the team is up of down by 4 or more.
  21. No one was going to keep up what he was doing, but I think were seeing the results of over use by Hyde/Orioles. Still, he's able to make good pitches when he needs to.
  22. I have to be honest with you, this is one of your silliest dig in moments. You are a smarter baseball fan than this continued take and you keep making it sillier with comments like this. You clearly knew Frobby did not mean that. Just run up the white flag, admit you were wrong on the take, and move on. It's ok to have a wrong initial take. It's get sillier when the evidence is clear the take was wrong and you keep digging in and arguing for your mistake.
