  1. Exactly. It's like Hyde has no idea how to use a pitcher like Voth.
  2. Look, these nights happen with pitchers. But a good manager has to know when to get him out before it blows up completely. I would have had Voth up and ready if Bradish put two guys on the next inning. But to let him load the bases on three hard hits and then let him pitch to another guy with no one up is ridiculous. Just a poor feel. And why waste Baumann here? Why not turn it over to Voth and let him extend? Instead Hyde wants to use one of his better relievers down 7-0 in the 3rd inning.
  3. LOl, that's partially on Hyde. It's obvious to EVERYONE that Bradish has nothing. He had a 40-pitch inning followed by guys just rocking him. And why Baumann getting warm and not Voth. Voth needs to be bulk guy. Really head scratching moves by Hyde.
  4. I'd get Voth up and stretch him out. Bradish has no command.
  5. Boy he needed that. 40 pitch inning is not good.
  6. Yikes, that was quite the lollipop throw by Mullins.
  7. Let's stick to Kjerstad in his thread. Thanks. Yes, I'm telling myself too!
  8. Let's stay on the subject of Cowser in his 2023 thread. Thanks.

    Zach Watson 2023

Right, by creating a 2023 page for him which is typically done for prospects only. But track away!

    Zach Watson 2023

Only because he would have a good week or two and you'd bring him back up! As for Watson, he's 26 in his 3rd season in AA. He probably should figure things out a little bit at this level. He's not walking, but he's not striking out as much as he has in the past. Honestly, I don't pay much attention to him overall since I think he's a NP, but you never know. Maybe he's a late bloomer.
  11. I think last night was a turning point for him of sorts. Kremer has historically gotten hit around by Boston so when he gave up that second homer to make it 4-0, he could have very well had mentally packed it in and watch the game get out of control. Instead, Kremer settled down and ended up pitching into the 6th inning as his offense brought the Orioles roaring back. Kremer has been an emotional guy on the mound during his career, but he's finally been able to use that emotion for good. Against the Nationals he used an error to piss him off and then proceeded to throws baseballs by guys instead of melting down as he would in the past. Kremer has never been a statcast darling and his mistakes tend to get hit hard. But I think what we've seen is a guy who knows he belongs and can weather the storms of emotion. His numbers do not look very good right now, but I'm willing to bet he's about to string some real good starts together.
  12. Yep, they've done this with a few of the older guys. The good news for him is without Burns, there is playing time available at SS at Bowie. I think Preto may get more looks there.

Is Watson your new Josh Hart?
  14. The Orioles don't seem to know what to do with Mateo and Urias when it coms to long term usage mostly because I'm not sure anyone really knows who they are as players. We do know they played very good defense last year at 3B and SS respectively. Personally, I would have come into this season with Mateo as my SS, Henderson as my 3B and would have moved Urias to 2b. With Ortiz, Westburg and Norby, there was enough depth in AAA to go in that direction. Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with Henderson playing both 3B and SS in the minors, but at some point when he hit AAA, I believe they should be focused on where he's going to play mostly. I don't think it's terrible that he did, but the struggles throwing can not be helped by bouncing back and forth.
  15. It is really interesting how his mound presence has changed so much from last year. He was so bad at the major league level between the Twins and the Orioles you had to wonder if he was just a guy who wilted in the bright lights of MLB. then, he shows up and not only is everything crisper and he can throws quality strikes with it, but he's out there unfazed in high leverage situations with runners in scoring position. I'm struggling to think of a guy who made this much of change from year to year in every aspect of his pitching. It's pretty crazy.
  16. Hmm, Bradish and Kremer say hello as well as Baker and Perez to a lesser extent. Holt has changed the opinion that the Orioles can't develop pitchers. Saying that, Cano did basically come here with good stuff but tweaks to his release point allowed him to find better command and more movement at the same velocities. He's a good development story.
  17. Yep, good memory. He did have an immaculate inning in AAA with the Twins and that showed his plus stuff and how good he could be when he was commanding. Now, he's actually added more movement at the same velocities. Crazy. I've been impressed with Holt since last season when he rebuilt Bradish and Kremer. now he's done it with Cano. I hope Holt gets a nice juicy extension to his contract. It's hard to argue with his results.
  18. Take a look at his movement of pitches last year to this year. While the stuff was good last year, everything is better this year. When you add in the better command thanks to the Orioles tweaking his release point to make it more consistent, whala! https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/yennier-cano-666974?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  19. Yeah, if you would have told us at the end of spring training that by April 25th, Coulombe and Cano would be our top two of three high leverage relievers (Baker is still the other), I doubt you would have had many believers. Crazy how both of these guys have really become quite impressive and the stuff (baseball savant) suggests this isn't smoke and mirrors.
  20. The thing with Valdez was he was a one trick pony that was doing it with smoke and mirrors. Cano has three pitches with plus movement and sinker that averages 95.3 MPH with 9.6 more inches of drop that the average sinker at that speed. This isn't smoke and mirrors. This is legitimate stuff and as long as he's commanding it, he's going to be very tough to hit. He's like finding a legitimate impact high leverage reliever out of thin air. You have to give props to the orioles for getting him in the Lopez deal and Holt for being able to make those tweaks to make him find that consistent command and additional movement.
  21. He reportedly tweaked some things in his delivery that has allowed him to get more consistent release points and more movement. It's quite the story so far. I liked him a bit stuff wise when I watched some video him after the trade, but his command was all over in the majors and I was worried he was a major league yips guy. I think we can put that worry to bed now that he's staring guys down after some filthy strikeouts.
  22. Well Lopez has allowed three hits and Cano has yet to allow a hit or walk so plus for Cano so far!
  23. Hey next time you want to discuss things or disagree with me, try doing it without being condescending and disrespectful.
  24. How's that working out for Henderson defensively so far? It sounds like a great concept, and typically versatility is a good thing with players, but I do think when you are developing impact players that they really need to mainly focus on one position if the team envision that being his main position. I'm just not sold on taking your Henderson's and Holliday's and move them a round a bunch defensively in the minors. Maybe I'm just old school, but I get it for players like Westburg or Norby who are not really great at one position and probably will need to move around to find regular PAs, but for your top guys I like the idea of giving them as much experience at the position you expect them to play as possible. As for Kjerstad, I do think there's nothing wrong with moving him back and forth between Rf and 1B because those are where his future opportunities will be. Personally, I think he's the future 1B, but he's not awful in RF and can play there in Camden Yards.
  25. I try to do both if I know the service days. Sometimes that can be tricky if guys go up and down a lot. Cano is going nowhere anytime soon though.
