  1. Ouch. He had done very well staying away from allowing homers up until then from what I remember without looking it up.
  2. No idea yet, but that would be pretty amazing for a 5th round pick! Right now these starts mean very little overall, but they are nice to see.
  3. He's #40 on the prospect power rankings despite being a 5th round pick. So I'm paying attention to his quick start and versatility.
  4. Yeah, I don't know whether that's good news of bad. Hopefully he's on an extended rehab and will be ready to pitch by next year. Shoulders are definitely more tricky than elbows.
  5. It will be interesting to see how Willems does in AA. He's been young for his league and has made some nice adjustments offensively with cutting down the strike outs and adding a little more game pop. I feel like I always get back looks at him though. He definitely has issues with left on left breaking balls, but a lot of young hitters do. I may be under valuing him a bit, but his throwing has really dropped off this season and his defensive game overall has been underwhelming from my looks. His height makes him an underwhelming choice to play 1B, but he does ok over there and definitely has no issue with effort. Catcher's are typically slow but he seems really, really slow. His body type is going to be something he has to watch because it will eventually hurt his flexibility and movement behind the plate. I try to remember that this would have been his Junior draft year, so would be happy with a draftee that was already in AA? Let's see how he does. If he can hold his own against AA pitching his stock could rise. I'll also get better video looks of him in AA.
  6. Kid Rock is great, but I too have no idea what rhymes with kick rocks that he can stick a fork in.
  7. There was a similar questioning by some on whether Morfe would be brought up for the pen. Its just is not going to happen with real prospects. We've also seen how Elias works at this point. Very few GMs are going to drop into AA or lower to get a prospect out of the minors to help them unless it's a situation like Manny Machado, and even that probably cost the Orioles an extra year of Manny (Not that it would matter because the window had closed).
  8. Gunnar absolutely should be signed to a 10 or 12 year contract. He's a franchise player and athlete. I've never been in favor of an Adley extension because he'll be a 30-year old catcher in his first season of his new deal (assuming he plays this one out). It never makes sense to give big money to catchers past 30-years old. Now depending on his performance and what the system has to offer by 2028, I might be open to a few years extension, but I don't see the Orioles needing to do anything be go to arbitration with Adley.
  9. Maybe the Orioles should have spent more time trying to develop Norby as a third baseman vs a 2B where he was never going to have the range or ability to turn the DP well enough to be good at the major league level. The "vaunted" Orioles minor league system under blood did some weird things and have kept guys at positions where it was clear they would never be effective at. Kind of like Mayo. Why is not spending he majority of his time at 1B or RF? Westburg is going to be the 2B and Holliday the 2B. Why are they wasting reps at 3B where his throwing accuracy is a problem still?

He's finishing the year strong. When he's commanding the baseball he's able to get outs. but I'd like to see what he looks like against AAA hitters. Plus I want to see his statcast info. I don't like him as much as some evaluators because I never saw an outpitch, but I will watch him again to see what's changed.
  11. Please remember, any updates on draftees now playing/pitching in the minors should be put in the minors forum, not his draft profile. Thanks.
  12. Really lucky to be 3-4 this past week. Easily could have gone 1-6 if not for the Santander slam and the Holliday pinch hit 2B. The offense has certainly been putrid and someone needs to step up. Over the last ten days: Gunnar (.719) has been below his norm and his .319 OBP over the last days is nothing to write home about Adley (.512 OPS), Santander (.566), Mountcastle (.559), Holliday (.461), Jimenez (.444) and O'Hearn (.285 OPS) have all been terrible. When a team is batting Austin Slater lead off, it has problems. And good Lord, while he can have some professional at bats, Jimenez is a slow, DH who hits a lot of balls on the ground has no play on a championship team.
  13. Heck of a catch and made a much better throw than I've seen from him before.
  14. It's not happening. There is no way Elias is burning a 40-man roster spot for EBJ this early. Terrance Gore was a non-prospect who was brought up in that role. If the Orioles are going to do that, they might as well bring up Luis Valdez. They can then DFA him without taking up a 40-man spot this winter. No way it happens with EBJ.
  15. These are the last rankings with Holliday and Povich included as they should both graduated this next week.
  16. EBJ is a legitimate prospect so he will just eat up a 40-man spot before he needs to. Elias loves his 40-man roster flexibility and doesn't like guys just eating up space and not able to contribute. Plus, this team is not a pinch runner defensive outfielder sub away from winning a World Series. If EBJ was in AAA, maybe, but he just got to AA.
  17. Using my Just Regular decoder ring, I think you are suggesting there is a small chance EBJ is promoted this September? I think I have as much chance of EBJ getting promoted to the big leagues this year. Elias is not going to take up a 40-man roster spot with a guy that may be two years away still. I just don't see it.
  18. Morfe has great velocity and very well may end up here, but for now, he needs work on his secondaries before getting too high.
  19. Weird, Eloy with a 6-4-3...
  20. Really, we're doing grips while the game is going on.
  21. All this time and now they tell us.
  22. Maybe the announcers can give us some insights on why everyone is just waiting around.
  23. That's been there offense for a long time now. They tend to get runs in bunches but stink otherwise.
  24. This guy pitching in the 8th for Houston is better than every single Orioles reliever and anyone in the system. It's not even close.
