  1. I don't think they like Urias' SP turn at 2B. I could be wrong, but they may like Henderson there better and if so, he could debut there even though longterm he's going to be a 3B.
  2. That's awesome. I remember being in the clubhouse the day they told Willie Harris he was going to the big leagues. I had known Willie for years so I happened to be right outside the manager's door when he came out. He came out and gave me a big hug! lol I was so excited for him and he ended up having a nice long career in the big leagues.
  3. That's a valid point. No need to burn a 40-man spot for him this offseason for a few PAs here and there. I really was just trying to think of a guy I'd rather have. I guess he's better than Nevin.
  4. He would be a bench guy who could play all over the infield. I guess they think a veteran bat is better down the stretch.
  5. I'd rather add Westburg than Aquilar honestly. Aquilar provides power, but he's been hitting the ball like Mountcastle lately. Basically we added 2nd half Mountcastle with no defensive value.
  6. Interesting. Not sure how they would be able to fit him onto the 28-man roster or why. I guess in theory he could be added as a RH power pinch hit bat off the bench, but he didn't hit left-handers particularly well this year.
  7. And it would have made zero sense with Nevin still on the roster.
  8. I did just to make it easier since everyone is following this thread. I'll update the title.
  9. As I pointed out in his thread, Henderson in his last 11 minor league games has played 6 games at 2B, 3 at 1b, 1 at 3B and 1 at SS. It sure looks like the plan is to play him on the right side of the infield THIS year. If they feel he can turn the DP effectively at 2B, I think he sees most of his time there but I can see him playing all over the infield to give guys rest, including Mateo at SS.
  10. So they promoted him in time to be part of the playoff roster just in case.
  11. That made more sense when Nevin was the backup and Urias would have to move to second base. I think the Orioles are satisficed Henderson can turn the DP effectively at 2B and will play him there. In the last two weeks, Henderson has played 3B only once, 2B six times, 1B three times and SS three times so it doesn't appear the plan is to play him on the left side much. I could see him playing 2B and 1B down the stretch especially if Mountcastle doesn't pick it up.
  12. Norby is starting to get Austin Hays comps for me as a hitter though he's shown better plate discipline but a little less average than Hays. He doesn't run or throw as well as Hays so I'm not sure the outfield is a great place for him but maybe he throws better from the outfield motion than the infield motion. I wish he was taller because first base might be his best destination but at 5-10, he'd be a pretty small target over there and his wing span would not be very long.
  13. Well we can finally move his thread onto the majors board! It will be interesting to see who's playing time he takes? He's been playing a lot of 2B lately in Norfolk so i think Odor may finally be heading to the bench.
  14. Hall gets the call and will finish the year in the Orioles bullpen. It will be interesting to see what role he's used in out in the pen. I think he'll need to work his way into any kind of leverage situation.
  15. I'm going to close this thread since there is one on him coming up and his 2022 thread to discuss him the rest of the year.
  16. Oh, he's getting offered a contract for sure, but the point is he's putting up worse number than a guy who was non-tendered a few years ago and the Orioles are entering their competitive window. He's also a guy that continues to trend in the wrong direction despite good EV and hard hit numbers. With the talent arriving, I just think Mountcastle could be used as a chip in a trade though the value of that chip keep diminishing with his poor performance.
  17. I'd like to pull this thread a bit. What Pedigree do you think makes him different than Nunez? I know he was one of our top prospects vs a waiver wire pickup, and perhaps that can be taken into consideration, but at the end of the day, Mountcastle is about to go to arbitration and get more expensive and he's more and more looking like he can be replaced internally with some position shifting.
  18. Santander was lucky because he was totally dogging it down the line.
  19. Another bad offensive performance. If only there was someone who could help!
  20. You do realize that nowhere in my post did I say that the Orioles should give up on Mountcastle. I said this would free them up to trade Mountcastle in the right deal. Saying that, Mountcastle is looking a lot more like Renato Nunez offensively (crazy streaky) and we saw what Nunez's value was after his 26 year old season even after hitting 31 home runs at 25 and then putting up a .816 OPS while pace to hit over 30 home runs at 26 years old. Now grant it, Mountcastle does bring some defensive value at first base, but Elias did not even offer Nunez a contract and Mountcastle is hitting worse than Nunez at 25. Streaky hitters with low OBPs are not what teams are looking for nowadays.
  21. I don't know who is having that conversation, but Mayo is not a 40 runner, not even close. He runs well on the go though he could end up a 40 runner when it's all said and done due to his size. Kjestad would be a guy I'd consider converting as well if there was a need or even to make him more versatile.
