  1. Cowser, Ortiz, Prieto and Rhodes are all in Bowie still. Haskin, Armbruester and Rom are there as well.
  2. I'd use more like "mind blowing." To this day it never, ever made sense to bring Fiorentino up to the majors from Single-A. thankfully we don't have that kind of organization leadership any longer.
  3. Ok, just getting caught up on this thanks to being in meetings this morning. My take: Povich is the headliner and although I have not gone and watched him yet (I'll do that tonight) all reports is that he's adding velocity and becoming a guy. A three pitch lefty with a good change can be an effective 4th/5th starter and if his velocity continues to tick up or the Orioles are able to get more out of his change, we have ourselves a future rotation piece. Cano is a Cuban so he's a little old but he was dominating AAA with his 95 MPH sinker, slider , changeup combo. I need go watch him but looking quickly at his baseball savant numbers he looks like a guy who misses bats with his slider and changeup but throws his sinker way too much in the middle of the plate. Cano may need to iron some things out, but he has plus movement on his changeup and horizontal movement on the slider. If he can command the sinker better he could very well be another arm in the pen. Rojas is a short-lefthander who appears to have plus command and good K numbers while Nunez looks like a short-righthander who could be a late bloomer with crazy K numbers. Overall, no huge prospect, but four guys with promise for Lopez. Now, I like Lopez as a reliever and I know the Orioles would have had him for wo more seasons. But if there is one thing the Orioles have a lot of is right-hander relievers. Bautista clearly becomes the closer, Tate fills his role with Krehbiel picking up some of Tate's roles. This opens a spot, hopefully permanently for Vespi to be another left-handed reliever besides Perez. So what I see if Elias adding needed pitching depth to the organization for a reliever that we have the "horses" to cover down on. I need to go watch Povich video tonight, but if I has the potential to be a middle of the rotation guy or even a 4th guy, that's worth 2 years of Lopez in my mind and when you add in the other potential, I can't be too upset at this trade.
  4. This part we agree on. But still the amount of miss against SEC pitching is a concern for me. It appears to me that they misread McLean's number or really were scared off by his medicals and Young was an emergency fall back. But, drafting McLean as a pitcher when he's barely pitched was a risk anyways. I like to see a little more production from guys I would give million plus to.
  5. Yeah, they certainly must believe they can fix guys with middling to below average production at the college level. We'll see how that works out.
  6. I just hope this is the last season that Elias brings up guys on the 40-man roster that are only promoted because they are on the 40-man roster and not because they forced their way onto the team. Who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if Diaz has a little success in the beginning, but he's a .187/.271/.286/.557 hitter in 357 AAA PAs. He risked his life to play in the major leagues so I'm happy for him once he makes that dream a reality in a game, but he hasn't earned his way onto this team and that's disappointing from my perspective.
  7. Why do you pitch outside if you have the damn shift on? I'll never, ever understand this.
  8. Yep, another long guy who could finish off games. Runner arm for sure.
  9. Absolutely. This is old school Arthur Rhodes stuff!
  10. Calling us Baltimore as a home announcer is a Cardinal sin!
  11. Well I keep forgetting about the Veteranosity fairly dust Odor brings to the field every night.
  12. Hmm, wonder what they saw on the physical and how it affected their offer vs his number. The Orioles under Elias have been pretty good on numbers for players.
  13. Too bad the team will be so depressed after losing their emotional clubhouse leader to be able to play today.
  14. No worries, thanks for the support!
  15. I was about to say the same thing. He's like, "Oh, its August, I can hit again!"
  16. Nice to see Mountcastle hitting a couple of balls hard after the K to start off the game in the 1st.
  17. Some people get way too caught up in SSS and don't let players adjust. I watched him struggle a bit at every level until he settled in. He was always going to be fine.
  18. I'm sure his veteranosity made all the other hitters get hits!
  19. Another Rutschman twice on base game and it's the 2nd inning.
  20. Yeah, that's a good point. Probably was rushing a bit knowing how fast Mateo is.
  21. This has to be the worse broadcast I've seen. Either way too far out, or way too zoomed in.
