  1. Where there's your answer. Rhodes has been up and down this year. We'll see if he gets the Bowie bump or he's about the same with a little more pop like Norby.
  2. I would think we'll see some guys pop into the lineups sometime this week. Other than Basallo (C) and maybe De Los Santos (3B) nobody can't be benched including Maikol Hernandez who now has slashed .191/.317/.248/.564 over 278 age appropriate to the level PAs. If we go by last year, the college guys should just get a week or two and then will head to Delmarva. In Delmarva, Bencosme (SS) is the only priority play that should not be benched, but I wouldn't expect Holliday to show up in Delmarva until next season most likely anyways. So even with one FCL team, there are plenty of PAs available to the position player prospects.
  3. He's been doing ok overall, but obviously the average and OBP have been a disappointment, but he's getting to his power a bit. Defensively he's been better, but I have to watch him more on that end. His HR% (5.5%) over the last 30 days is second in the org behind Colton Cowser (6.5%). He's really never had a significant hot streak but he smack three homers over the last 7 days.
  4. Big jump for Ortiz who looks finally healthy. He and Cowser look like the best guys on the field at Bowie.
  5. This last group signed was with the Orioles having pretty much equal ground with other teams. Before that, yes, they were in catch up phase. Saying they have been pretty good at identifying the late bloomer talent in Bencosme and Juan De Los Santos.
  6. He lasted this long into the draft because his number was too high for most teams knowing he wanted to attend LSU. The Orioles appears to have tried a 17th rounder (the definition of a lottery ticket) on him in the hopes that they could maybe sway him with the money they had left over. He decided not to. I've heard about the tools but at the end of the day, the kid didn't perform very well last year overall besides hitting a few bombs. Good luck to him.
  7. He could end up like Sisco. Good minor league hitter without a defensive spot. Saying that, Vavra has speed and can play the outfield so I wouldn't call him Sisco yet. He will need to prove he can hit good fastballs at the major league level. We won't know that until he gets some PAs under his belt.
  8. Vavra's PA at the end of the game where he took the walk was impressive. He laid off some very close pitches particularly the 3-2 up and in fastball for ball four. You have to wonder what kind of hitters Mountcastle and Hays would be had they come up through this system? They have the talent, but their swing decisions still leave a lot to be desired!
  9. Maverick Handley is probably the best upper minors catcher when it comes to combining plus defense with at least some ability to control the zone a bit. With Rutschman's ability to hit left-handed (switch) he could very well be in the running for the backup job next year.
  10. He's definitely has 20 homer potential. He's go the raw power and has really gotten into a few. Today he just reached out and lined a few up the middle, but I've seen some 420+ homers from him.
  11. Was at the game today and Cowser looks really comfortable at the plate. Every thing seems to be coming off his bat as a line drive.
  12. I was at the game today and Oritz is looking very confident at the plater. Very balanced and seeing the ball well. Even in a ground out, he had like a 12-pitch at bat against a guy throwing 96 MPH, fouling off pitch after pitch. His home run was on a nice right-center grand slam and he had a double earlier in the game on a line drive over the CFers head. Hard not to like what you see right now.
  13. Someone told me he's the fastest guy in the system. Unfortunately doesn't really have a position and has 20 power.
  14. I still think his ultimate destination will be the pen, but for now, he's going to keep getting starts.
  15. But do you increase Vavra's potential trade value by sitting him on a major league bench or by playing him at 2B and seeing if he can improve? Vavra is probably not a major league regular with the Orioles due to their infield depth, but he could be for someone and everything about these prospects once they are done being developed is about increasing their trade value.
  16. Yes, it's clear that is what the Orioles did. Some of us don't think that's the best way to use him when you have a replacement level player playing his position. It's not the end of the world, the Orioles are winning, but they should have brought up Martin instead of Vavra to sit the bench since Vavra is the better prospect. Hyde loves himself some Odor and the team is winning. Ok, great, play him every day, but it still won't change the record of when he plays vs doesn't play. How good could this team be if they had an average second baseman vs a replacement level player?
  17. It was a good pitch. Sometimes you gotta give the hitter credit and well Votto is a pretty good one. Very nice outing by Bradish last night, good to see. Hopefully he an put a string of them together but he does seem to tire around 80 pitches which something to keep an eye on.
  18. Maybe. He only threw 11 pitches which was good. I was just worried he end up throwing a bunch and be unavailable tomorrow or maybe Sunday of he had to pitch tomorrow too.
  19. Bullpen has been un believable. Man for man, I still think this may be the deepest bullpen they've ever had.
  20. Yeah, I get it, but if the next two games are close and he's cant throw in the 3rd game, I'll be wondering about this appearance.
  21. Not a fan of using bullets from your closer in a game where you're up 4 runs now.
  22. Nothing like Mountcasle and Hays to make sure the game doesn't get too far outta hand. lol
  23. Good lord on the throw from the CFer. That looked like some little league stuff!
