  1. No one is going to stop Gunnar for getting PAs in AAA. Right now, it's an organizational decision to keep him in AA because of his development plan, not because any of the org/AAAA guys you mentioned.
  2. I could see this being the Orioles plan in the second half or maybe the last month or two of the season. Right now he needs to refine his command of his four pitches.
  3. Rhodes was placed on the 7-day IL and hasn't played since May 18th. Doesn't seem like he was pulled from his last game so not sure what's up. Anyone heard anything?
  4. With Nevin and Bannon, there's not a lot of time at 3B in Norfolk.
  5. Looks like he's on schedule to start with one of the FCL Orioles team on June 6th.
  6. It can affect vision and most guys don't think it looks very good.
  7. Since the 90s, not many at the major league level.
  8. He looked like he was running in sand! lol
  9. That shoulder injury sapped him of that top end stuff. His velocity came back a bit, but his slider has never come back to a consistent offering.
  10. I imagine they are trying to keep him around or under 100 this year.
  11. He followed Hall today and was a not good mix of bad command and no go to swing and miss pitch even though he struck out 4 in 2 innings. Seems to still be trying to mix his curveball in more often, but with varying success. When he gets the ball in the zone, he's getting hit hard.
  12. Baumann's stuff really was disappointing. Just no kind of outpitch for him.
  13. He only allowed one hit and two walks today, so he was fine. It's more about command for him. Give him some time.
  14. Good start for Hall. Stuff: Fastball: 94-98, lots of swings and misses Slider: 86-88, probably the pitch he can throw for strikes most consistently. Pretty flat but good horizontal movement for good back door pitch against right-handers. Decent left on left pitch. Change: 86-87, got some swings and misses and able to throw for some strikes, but he wasn't commanding it well. Note, he shook off Nottingham in his 4th inning on a 3-2 count and wanted to throw the change. he missed high with the pitch, but it shows he's trying to improve the pitch and wasn't worried about the walk. Curve: 82, was his least used pitch and buries it in the dirt a bit too much. Good vertical and decent horizontal movement though. Pitches quickly when he gets on the rubber but seems to go to the rosin bag, dirt on the mound, or cleans his spikes after every pitch. Not afraid to shake off catcher, but did not always execute the pitch he wanted to throw. Very athletic guy getting off the mound. Good quick accurate pick off throw. Pros: Obvious he's a 4-pitch guy who is extremely tough to hit. Not a comfortable at bat for either righties or lefties. The stuff is legit. Cons: Took him 78-pitches to get through 4 innings and that has to improve. He gets in deep counts on almost everyone and still throws too many uncompetitive pitches. Assessment: Needs more time in the minors to work on the command if he's going to be a starter. He can pitch in relief right now no doubt. Probably would throw consistently 100 mph as a reliever, but he's got a starter's repertoire so he needs to stay there.
  15. True, and my observations were my raw notes durig this one start. If I remember correctly, he suppoesdly threw a good changeup prior to the the TJ surgery so that could certainly be a feel thing. The curveball has that hard late break though and looks to have plus potential.
  16. Yeah, I can't get anything off that Aberdeen angle.
  17. I can't say that he can't pick up a notch or two, but he's got a pretty mature body from what I saw. It's a pretty easy delivery though so there could be more when he needs it.
  18. 5/25 (raw notes) Smoth repeatable delivery. Mature body. 93 MPH on 3rd pitch 3-2 curveball for K looking (80 mph) Strikeout swinging on FB (302) 2nd inning Starting most players off with offspeed, getting ahead Curve best pitch (plus pitch at times) Leaving changeup up (some horizontal movement) Slider well below average Two K's looking on fastballs 3rd inning Impressive fastball-curveball combo (fastball 93 MPH) Changup and slider need work. Has some Chris Tillman in him.
  19. Aw, c'mon. Someone calls him GM on a message board is "short changing" his position? lol
  20. Baumler makes his professional debut tonight. https://www.milb.com/gameday/shorebirds-vs-riverdogs/2022/05/25/669898#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=669898
  21. Man, it was almost like someone was saying since he was in Bowie that his stuff might play up in shorter stints and he could end up a great Arthur Rhodes-like reliever.
