McCann is fine, he is a backup catcher, I don’t expect much from him and he does a fine job at what he is.
Urias, his time has come. Time to DFA and recall Holliday.
McCann is a below replacement level player that the team plays too much. He’s not “fine”.

Holliday will be up before July.
-
Zero chance they look to upgrade on McCann.
Urias, if they upgrade from him, will come from within.

Mayo was removed from the game and pinch hit for today after going 2-2 with a double. Anyone know why?

I'll take 200 innings of a 2.68 ERA for a season and a 1.000-ish Whip. Should win a lot of ballgames with that.
If the Ks and missed bats are going to trend down, those numbers won’t continue.
I don’t expect this to happen but still, have to look deeper into things imo.

Apparently Vavra misplayed a pop up and the homer followed.

Based on his 2023 season ….Absolutely. Holliday is still a prospect. The top prospect in baseball mind you….but yes. Look back in history at trades that included prospects rated in say the top 5 and see if any of them netted a 1 for 1 trade. Further, I like Holliday and as I stated I’m not trading him. But that doesn’t mean he has more value.
Holliday may be less of a sure thing but he clearly has more value in a trade than Robert does.

Whose brilliant idea was it to bring back a guy who started out 2-27 while he was still hurt?
Sounds like he aggravated the calf since he came back. Had a big double today, so that was encouraging.

Really tough opening to the season outside of the Raiders game.
-
We also just have a lot of underperforming guys that just aren’t producing and they are up there pressing.
We had been a victim of a lot of bad calls early by the umps too, as was shown yesterday.

It's been announced that all the teams playing in Christmas Wednesday will play the Saturday before. Looks like we will play the Steelers that Saturday. Houston will play KC on Saturday.
Based on leaks that have supposedly been veriied by CBS sports, here is what is known about our schedule:
Week 1 Thu Sept 5 @KC
Week 2 Sun Sept 15 home opener vs Raiders
Week 4 Sun Sept 29 8:20 pm Sunday Night Football vs Bills
Week 16 Sat Dec 21 vs Steelers
Week 17 Wed Dec 25 at Texans
I hadn’t seen the Raiders thing. That means we will be at Cle or Cinci in week 3, in all likelihood.

In Hyde's press conference, he said the bunt was off. That was all McCann.
Even better..the player himself has no confidence in his own ability.

Really like Hyde but how he handled that game, particularly at the end, with the offense was awful.
-
He was safe but what an awful decision. If you don’t think McCann can make contact why the hell is he batting?
Awful awful awful

The lack of walks and getting on base is really hurting the offense.

I don’t think Rosenthal was bad, he just had a vendetta against Peter Angelos.
Rosenthal suggested Holliday and Basallo for a guy with on healthy season. That was awful.

What in the world is Hays here for if he's not playing against LHP?
Because they are obsessed with McCann playing vs lefties..even though he isn’t hitting.

Finally, someone bothered to actually sniff around and find something out. Kudos to this reporter. So the leg kick remains but the setup is a little different. At least we know some change has been made.
Well since the leg kick remains, he’s going to be a failure…obviously.

Trade options for the outfield
in Orioles Talk

I think it’s completely off the table that the team would trade for an OFer unless we see injuries.
