  1. The lack of understanding w/r/t team building astounds me sometimes. You don’t trade guys who are arguably top 5 hitting prospects for a reliever with a high risk of injury. It’s just non sensical. You know why Elias always drafts hitters? Because they are far more of a sure thing and we are seeing doctors and coaches, etc..talking about how these guys throwing this hard are going to break down because the arm just can’t take it. I would love to add Miller but there is a stopping point on what you give up and Mayo and Basallo are that clear line of stopping. You absolutely, 100% do not even consider making that move.
  2. You don’t trade Mayo for a reliever with his injury profile. It’s an awful idea.
  3. In his latest article, Rosenthal mentioned that baseball trade values says it would need to be Mayo and Bradfield for Miller
  4. Not as good as Burnes looks.
  5. No chance is right. He ran into some command and control issues early but when his stuff was working, they couldn’t touch it. I’m shocked at how well things are looking right now…which is about the feeling I figure I will have right before the shoe drops.
  6. I hate it too. That damn @Frobby brings up save% all the time. It drives me nuts. There are a lot of stats like that.
  7. Probably but I wouldn’t go as far as definitely. Some of these contenders with OF issues are more salary conscious than others. But if he goes another 100-200 at bats where he’s awful, the thought that he is likely to get claimed goes way down imo.
  8. Apparently it was everywhere else though. Honestly, I’m glad to hear that. Gives me even more confidence he can bounce back.
  9. Thank you. I have no idea how I have missed this but you mentioning it today is literally the first time I had heard it.
  10. For sure but this is at least a little different.
  11. So what do we take from this w/r/t Povich? He is at 3.9, so slightly better than league average but still high. I would guess you still have to think he needs to improve on it but maybe improving on it can/will occur at the ML level, if he does indeed improve on it?
  12. Yea I’m not sure how I didn’t hear about that although I tend to tune out ST because it’s so awful. But I don’t even remember hearing about it during any broadcasts. That definitely helps explain, or at least lends the possibility, of why he struggled to start this year.
  13. Hays did? I don’t remember hearing that. That certainly helps explain things.
  14. As I said, he has a really strong 90 PA stretch from mid August to mid Sept. So, for about 1/3 of his last 320ish PA, he was excellent. For 2/3 of it, he was sub 600 OpS. You can choose to do whatever you want with the numbers. Those are just facts. He was great for the first 3 months last year and not good the second 3 months and has started this year poorly.
  15. Hays also doesn’t get good jumps. You overrate him and always have. He’s a good player. A solid 450-550 at bat guy. Someone who doesn’t generally hurt you defensively but really, he has no biz being in GG discussions. I’m glad we have him but when we don’t, I doubt we will even notice he’s gone.
  16. Well based off the last half season of baseball, lots of players are better than Hays. He has literally been a below replacement level player.
  17. I could see that. I personally think it’s rather obvious that Cowser is a superior defensive OFer compared to Hays but I also think it’s possible you consider LF harder in OPACY compared to CF, so they could view Cowser being the better fit there
  18. Interesting note at the end of this highlight about Hollidays dad
  19. I think there will be a platoon and I think Cowser may see some more CF time.
  20. I think Hays will be fine. I don’t think he’s just completely lost his game. But I also am not willing to dismiss the possibility that he has. He is a little older (not old, just older) and he has had a lot of injury issues. That can catch up to you and some times, there is no warning sign of it happening.
  21. Last year, Kimbrel gave up 5 total runs in 3 of his first 4 outings. In the beginning of May (ironically) he gave up 6 runs in 1 IP spanning 2 outings. Over his next 30 appearances, he gave up 7 runs..good for a 2.1 ERA. Through the rest of August, he gave up 5 runs in 4 appearances. He then gave up 2 runs in the month of Sept. 2022 was similar. He just goes through some stretches of not being good and way longer stretches of being very good.

  23. Anyone keep track of the league average walk rate overall?
  24. I remember last year when we would see highlights of Holliday swinging, people were in awe of the leg kick and just the overall beauty of the swing. 30 ML at bats later and people think it’s going to end his career. This site never ceases to amaze me how often some poster fly off the handle over small sample sizes.
