  1. I don't think I've ever seen Mullins smile - he seems so serious, while Adam was very loose and easy-going and quick to laugh. Defensively, Mullins is faster and understands he's got to throw to the cutoff men because of his weak arm. Jones had a much stronger arm, but was inaccurate and took far too many chances trying to get base-runners going home instead of hitting the cutoff man. Offensively, Adam batted righty and was an absolute sucker for low and outside sliders - a foot outside and in the dirt, and he'd still swing at most of them. He was never any good at stealing bases - he was more of a long-strider. Mullins bats lefty, doesn't have quite the power that Adam has, but is a much better base stealer and also shows the ability to bunt - which Adam didn't. Mullins seems more or a selective hitter than Adam.
  2. Oh man, I was counting on him getting 243 RBI's.
  3. I'm sure the O's are well aware of his complete collapses after 4 innings, but... so far they have chosen not to do anything about it: Here are his OPS's given up by inning: 1st:: .517 2nd: .620 3rd: .632 4th: .691 5th: 1.396 6th: 1.133
  4. Well, they did wear similar uniforms. If Mullins starts swinging at every low and outside slider, I could see some similarity, but then again Adam batted righty, and Mullins now is just a lefty. Hmm, I'm not sure they could be more different, tbh.
  5. Gotta like that he has 17 walks vs 14 SO's - a much better ratio than studs Henderson and Westburg.
  6. If he keeps up his pace of 34 RBIs in 21 games for 150 games, he'd get 243.
  7. He's got some talent, but... he hasn't done enough to be considered a legit prospect, so why not move him around to where he's needed, and who knows - maybe the light suddenly goes on. Nothing else worked with him, so why not?
  8. Braves could still use a LFer - even with Pache back. I think they want more pop than guys like Inciarte and Heredia (who's hitting way over his head so far) can provide. Also, I think they'd like to have some security if anything happens to Freddie Freeman. It's a long shot, but if the O's can get OFer Michael Harris (10th ranked in their system by MLB.com but probably should be higher) for Mancini, do it. And the O's might want to expand the trade to get Camargo - who can play SS, 2B, or 3B - and hit very well in AAA but has failed to live up to MLB expectations. Now that Grenier's on a mini tear, exchange him for Camargo in the deal.
  9. Yeah, I um... don't disagree with that.

    Kevin Smith 2021

Yeah, let them have Bradish back, and their pitching might be better, and they're certainly better at catcher. I kid, but not so much.
  11. And that wasn't the only big "Doyle Alexander trade". Years later, In 1987, Detroit was buying to stay in the playoffs hunt, and Atlanta was selling. Detroit got their man for coveted minor league pitching prospect... John Smoltz. Detroit got what they wanted - Doyle was terrific for them at age 36, but... the cost was high, lol. If we can get the next John Smoltz, I'd be willing to trade Mullins.

    Adam Hall 2021

He didn't even have a double until yesterday. Nice that he got 2 and he's got time, but the lack of pop is a label he's going to have to overcome.

    Kevin Smith 2021

Smith and Peralta (also 24) are both off to terrific starts at Bowie. Peralta with a 1.93 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 21 SO's in 14 innings. Neither will be innings eaters, but maybe the thing to do is use them as 3 or 4 innings pitchers - probably how the O's should use Lopez. Instead of forcing these guys into roles they'll likely fail in, use them in roles they can succeed in. I mean... aren't the O's already using 5 or so pitchers a game - a lot because our starters get killed in the 5th inning, and we don't have a long reliever to go in there? Why keep doing things the same way when you're in last place... again.
  14. 9 ahead of everyone else in the league - as well as leading the league in OPS and homers while alternating between SS and 3B. A Memorial Day promotion seems right.
  15. It's time to break up the Shorebirds. They have the 3 highest OPS' of players over 50 at bats, and that's not even including Haskins who's in the .900's and has 9 steals or Servideo who's leading in OBP. It's at the point that scoring 10 runs is what's expected every game.
  16. Right, please don't go the under-slot route this time. We'd have to go through another year of sarcastic witticisms from CoC - that's reason enough to just go best player available. j/k I get why they did it last year, but it's too risky a strategy to use 2 years in a row, when you really can't afford to miss - and you have a stud there ready to pick.
  17. To me, if Rocker's there at 5, he's the pick. I think he's answered all questions and appears to be as major league ready as you're going to find. Just keep it simple, and pick him.
  18. Very well handled by the folks here. I'm impressed. And hopefully that individual changes.
  19. One of these days, Lucy won't pull the ball away when we're ready to kick it. But will Elias be there to do it for her?
  20. Is it too much to ask that our starting rotation next year is Bradish, Means, Rocker, Hall, and GrayRod? ...with Adley as their starting catcher? Wait another decade?
  21. Hopefully, we actually reach that point - so we aren't perpetually looking ahead 2-3 years.
  22. Green is so good, they're going to rename it the OMG Academy - after him.

    OBP machines

He's hard to explain. He was absolutely crushing the ball when the college season was ended abruptly, but he was never known for his bat before then. So was that just a flukish hot streak? Probably so, but if it wasn't... wow.
  24. If they're still OPSing over a thousand in mid June,, I'd like to see Henderson and Westburg in Aberdeen.
  25. 26 SO's in 13.2 innings is reasonably good. He'll turn 25 in September.
