  1. Thanks. Yeah, players gotta be held accountable for this kind of stuff unless management decides to charge minor league prices.
  2. I'd probably need to watch more of the O's to get that, so I'm guessing I'm better off.
  3. Yeah, both plays were completely horrible boneheaded plays. Hyde was asked about the double steal at the end of his post-game interview - He made it clear it was not his call and blamed it on the base-runners. In that case, he really needs to lay down the law on Sisco. I like Sisco's potential, but he can't be in the lineup next game - just can't allow 2 plays like that at the major league level without accountablity.
  4. Meh, Sisco's still going to play some catcher, and he'll save some wear and tear on his knees. If you want, I'll have him do extra catching drills during the day.
  5. He can when he doesn't catch. But he's won the catching job - at least for the time being.
  6. Probably so, but it would be irresponsible imo if the O's didn't see what they have in him and give him the opportunity to show that his start isn't a fluke. They've got nothing to lose. Sisco can be the backup catcher and get at bats elsewhere.
  7. He had some reasonably good numbers while in the Braves system, but he wasn't taken seriously because his stuff was marginal. Now, that his stuff has improved - perhaps dramatically so - it is time to take him seriously. Where he should be rated is another question which others probably have a better idea than I do.
  8. I laughed - me too. Good to here he did have a couple good at bats.
  9. Yeah, he got 3 strike calls on one batter that were all off the outside corner. I don't know if it was bad umpiring or good framing or a combo. Otoh, he made me almost pull my hair out when batting he had a 3-1 count and swung at what would have been ball 4 twice - and struck out. Tell him not to watch Chris Davis anymore. Btw, Davis' attempt to catch a very high popup to short RF last night... just awful. He's not just horrible offensively; his defense is also unacceptible. He has to go, but we all know that - as he continues to play. Ok, back to Chance.
  10. Actually the Braves could use a late inning reliever or 2 so... No. I guess one of Waters or Pache will eventually replace Markakis... but Nick keeps showing he can still play every day. Year after year, he gets the job done and never seems to need a rest.
  11. Btw, both Waters and Pache are 20 year old AA CFers for the Braves. The O's need to become more like the Braves at some point.
  12. Agreed - that's primarily why I separated De La Rosa from the others.
  13. Doesn't sound like there's much top quality at SS at this point. Hopefully Gunnar defies the odds and stays at SS.
  14. He got hit like he was pitching batting practice last year in AAA and this year in AA. I wouldn't expect anything other than an organizational guy.
  15. Mostly stuff on this website.
  16. Gomez (17), Acevedo (16), Bellony (17), and Cruz (18) batting 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th are all off to solid starts, while De La Rosa (20) batting 4th is off to the best start of the group. Sounds like a good group to follow. My guess - from what I've read and gleaned is that Bellony and Acevedo are the ones to keep the closest eyes on.

I don't know what the numbers say, but it seems to me that pitchers who can't throw hard are even less likely than ever to be successful in the majors.
  18. He seems to have a high baseball IQ. I haven't watched many games this season, but I've noticed him doing little things that made a difference - like last night keeping the tag on a base-stealer and getting the out as the runner very slightly overran the bag, being in the right place as a cutoff man to double-up a runner, knowing when to take charge on popups and when to let the perhaps overly-aggressive Villar take charge.
  19. Everyone thinking what I'm thinking? Yup... Severino at SS and Sisco at 2B.
  20. I gotta get some J6 t-shirts for my twin brother's birthday.
  21. Didn't I say the thing well is catch balls hit over his head? Well, he nearly killed himself running into the wall, but he just made a helluva catch
  22. That's gotta be a trick question.
  23. Nobody predicted the Spanish Inquisition either, and we see what happened there. He's gonna need a lot more at bats to get consideration.
  24. No chance. I like Lowther, but I don't consider him a prospect with much trade value. I'd just keep Severino for the rest of the season so we have a better idea of what he is, and then evaluate options.
