  1. We can talk about him when he gets a 6 hit game.
  2. After Torkelson, any thoughts on who the best OF prospect is: Dylan Crews, Zac Veen, Austin Hendrick, Pete Crew-Armstrong?
  3. And with Bannon stepping up as a possibility at 2nd or 3rd, there's yet another moving part for next season. Is it just a small sample size, or does Stewart have the best feel for the strike zone and approach to at bats on the team? My feeling is that he's a very solid major league hitter and not the disaster in the OF that he's getting labelled.
  4. Maybe Hernais' fielding prowess convinces them to start him at Delmarva next year. Obvious, it's early, and a few errors would change the numbers dramatically, but Hernais with a .990 fielding percentage through 23 games is impressive.
  5. Watching the videos of him, he looks more like 25 than 16. It's not just his size; it's his presence. What a great natural power swing. If they think he can keep his weight down, I'd assume he's in the discussion for the #1 pick. Then again, what do I know - I am no scout.
  6. "Also said Davis needs to make some adjustments at plate and knows it" Apparently, it takes at least 2 full seasons for Davis to make these adjustments that he knows he needs to make... I just don't buy that he's made a reasonable effort. On the times that he actually makes solid contact, there are too many times he's hit right into the shift.
  7. Chris Davis may be relevant to the conversation once Stewart is making more than two one hundredths of what Davis is making.
  8. With Hanser knocking balls over the fence, my biggest concern is this making Brady Anderson think it's time for him to make a comeback.
  9. Hey, if he can get through this and be productive next season - which I think is a reasonable expectation, I see him as being a fan favorite. There's clearly no question about his effort out in the field, and he has some ability - being a former 1st rounder who had a very good season in AAA. .
  10. That's fair. Agreed on his position being 2nd base. And maybe I just see him at his worst at SS, but he seems to fall asleep at times and doesn't know what to do when they're in shifts - simple things like when to cover 2nd base. With the O's pitching woes, they can't afford those kinds of mistakes. At this point in his career, I don't expect improvement.
  11. He's been like this throughout his career - and he also makes more than his share of mistakes when playing SS. He's a risk-taker, but he also just makes foolish plays too often to play for a lot of teams.
  12. That's an eye-opener and pretty much says it all about his role going forward - assuming good health. .
  13. Hader's more like mid 90's and can reach upper 90's whenever he needs to, but yeah - he doesn't throw as hard as Harvey. It's the combo of his fastball and slider both complementing each other. https://brewmaths.com/2019/01/03/josh-hader-randy-johnson-2-0-a-kid-from-millersville/ Can Harvey's curveball have that same complementary effect with his fastball that Hader has with his slider and fastball? Since Hader typically has the single best whiff rate in all of MLB, that's an awfully tough standard to meet.

    Dean Kremer 2019

That I could see perhaps - promoting a player from AA to help the AAA team with their run at the playoffs. But never hold back a AA player who should be in AAA just to help the AA team.

    Dean Kremer 2019

Yeah, if they put the AA playoffs ahead of player development, I'm giving up. Grats to Kremer.
  16. It would be more fun to actually see some of these guys in the majors - including Akin.
  17. Too bad Cruz SO's so much - 81 in 204 at bats - even though he's improved dramatically over last year (93K's in only 178 at bats and a .395 OPS - ouch). I'm guessing Prado's the best prospect on the team. He's struck out 34 times in 205 at bats, OPSing over .800, and playing CF. And Prado's 17 compared to Cruz' 18. It'll be interesting to see how several of these guys do next year - and who gets to play in the GCL.
  18. Both McCoy and Bannon. I was hoping one would excel.
  19. Hey, the minor leagues are the best reality shows in the business.
  20. Between Hall, Hernais, Henderson, Carmona, and Piancencias… we have power in numbers at the SS spot. We just need 1 to "hit" big. We should know in... 5 years or so.
  21. And we have a 17 year old SS in the Dominican League with 15 BB's and 15 K's. Perhaps a reflection of what type of players they are now looking for. Or just one of those kinda coincidental things. Hey, the mind tends to wander when you're an O's fan with a day off.
  22. Yeah, it's time to talk more about Piancencias. Still just 67 plate appearances but a .522 OBP really is eye-catching (15 walks and 15 SO's). No power to speak of - but at 6'1 170 maybe the best is yet to come? Hey, when you're an O's fan these days, you take any bone thrown your way.

    Adam Stauffer

Just wondering - What do Gulf Coast League players typicall do in April through June? Don't they at least play simulated games?
  24. Sorry, but even with the excellent batting average, Alberto's got an OPS+ of 99. I mean... the price was right for him, but he's literally below average.

    2019 Atlanta Braves

So the Braves just promoted 2 20 year old OFers to their AAA team (Pache and Waters) and a pitcher (Ian Anderson) who turned 21 in May. Is it that they just have superior very young talent, or are they more aggressive promoting players? They did the same last year with various very young pitchers - and I won't even mention how young Acuna and Riley are. Any chance the O's organization ever looks like the Braves?
