It’s totally a blister today, he keeps looking at his finger in between pitches. Kinda amazing that he has been solid with his feel/control so far today.
Kremer’s splitter has really made a difference this year, particularly against LHP. In 2022, Kremer added the cutter which became his weapon against RHP. With the split, his arsenal is really diversified and makes him less vulnerable to lineup configurations.
Good “problem” to have. Let’s hope Westy and Cowser keep producing but I think they’ve sorta cemented their places in the go forward squad.
Kjerstad replaces Santa permanently in 2025, so it’s really just an issue creating a spot for Mayo.
Perhaps. But I think more likely is that go 6 man rotation (with Burnes staying on 5 day rest routine). It could potentially help manage workloads and injuries for Grayson, Bradish, Means.
Another factor — the 2024 team is in a better place to fortify over the course of the season, whether internally (Holliday, Mayo, Povich, McDermott) or externally (surely better than Flaherty, Fuji).
Last night Irvin threw over 50% curveballs and that flummoxed the CIN batters. Whether that was pregame plan or was result of calling what was working. Historically, Means is more FB at 50%, changeup at 25% pitch mix. We’ll find out how that plays against the CIN right handed bats.
