  1. You can definitely do worse than a lefty platoon bat with an option as a back end guy on the 40-man roster.
  2. Yep, although depending on how he is hitting, he could get into the 1B/DH mix as well if that happened. Hopefully for Nick's sake he finds a better landing spot but I think free agent corner outfielders are going to be in big trouble this offseason. I don't know what Jones's market will look like.
  3. I wouldn't mind a Markakis reunion next season for his veteran presence, consistency, someone to cheer for who the fans know, and as a place-holder for Diaz, Diaz, or Hays. The outfield market is going to be very saturated, curious to see what kind of offers he gets.
  4. Camden Yards isn't in Detroit. Or Flint, or Oakland, or St. Louis.
  5. I saw him take batting practice once before an O's-Rays game (the Rays were about to play in an NL park). Archer hit one out and ran around the bases with his arms raised, it was pretty cool. I hope he hits one in a real game now that he is in the NL and does the same thing.
  6. Per Fangraphs, his arm has been below average each of the last three seasons. I may be wrong, but I think it is LF and CF in a pinch for him.
  7. Adam doesn't have the arm for RF. The Mets hit two triples to right on Wednesday that would have been doubles with a real right fielder.
  8. Gausman had an extra year of control on Miley and had 0.5 rWAR the season he was traded.
  9. Yep, he is 16th in WAR among all #4 picks. He will likely end up around #11 when all is said and done. Hardly a bust.
  10. I posted this on the minor league board already: MLB Pipeline has been updated and has Ortiz at 7, Carmona at 14, Encarnacion at 15, and Cumberland at 30.
  11. Indeed. I guess time will tell. I don't have a ton of faith in the Orioles using all of their international slot money, and I have even less faith in them using it particularly well since they have such a limited amount of international scouting infrastructure.
  12. They had to trade Arrieta, he was unplayable at the end. Gausman was still a solid mid-rotation pitcher for the Orioles.
  13. I guess we will find out. It was only meaningful as a trade asset to the Braves, they couldn't spend it anyway because they were over the limit in the past. Hopefully the Orioles use it and get something out of it. Would love to be wrong. A cost-controlled mid-rotation starter should bring back more.
  14. F. Terrible trade, they leveraged Gausman's value into dumping O'Day's salary. They didn't need to trade Gausman and none of the players coming back look to be impact Major League players. I also don't believe that the Orioles will use all of their international money, most of the good players have already signed, and international scouting is a long game not one you can dive into at the drop of a hat. I don't think that this $2.5 million is the difference in acquiring VVM and not acquiring him, they already had the most money.
  15. If only he could play the Rays every game.
  16. Kinda bizarre that the article doesn't say where the field actually is. West Baltimore is not a small place. It is behind James Mosher Elementary School, for those that are curious.
  17. MLB Pipeline added the prospects to the Orioles top 30. They have Diaz at #2 behind Mountcastle, Kremer at #13, Bannon at #17, and Pop at #29.
  18. Wouldn't Valera be taking Manny's spot on the roster?
  19. Keith Law on Lowther: Brett 1:14 Zac Lowther have any type of ceiling in the Bigs, or is this just him being too old for his level? Keith Law 1:15 Low ceiling guy but may end up a good back-end starter. Huge extension in his delivery, high spin fastball, so hitters don't see it even at 88-89.
  20. Looks to be the first to post the bonus for Neustrom.
  21. Any chance we can change the title of this thread to the correct number of games (80)?
