I hate the idea of trading for an established guy tbh and especially a rental. I'd rather the O's create a pipeline of talent that they can continue to rely on that will position them for success for a decade, rather than go all-in for a few years. I think it's the more sustainable way to build a franchise, especially when you're a smaller market team.
It could mean flipping a top hitting prospect for a top pitching prospect. Find trading partners who are complementary (i.e. organizations with a surplus of pitching prospects relative to position players). Despite being a contender, I'd rather trade established guys to clear room for our prospects, and restock the system, rather than trade prospects for established guys.
