  1. The Orioles announcing they have players they are going to sign is a good sign. I feel like what we did sign was quietly and long after other teams had their guys already.
  2. A trick that I feel like has happened many times over the years, the offense and pitching seems to pull against each other. Offense takes all the mojo and we lose 10-9, pitching takes the mojo and we lose 1-0. It's rare even in winning years that we have a blow out (in our favor). It's really just a feeling, I have no data to back it up. Although like last night, maybe this is more a starter vs relief thing, but you get my idea. 0.5 GB of the #1 pick. So look, another silver lining.
  3. The D looked really nice at moments and really bad at moments. I wonder how this game might be different if we could hit the cutoff man. I worry a bit that with all the losing guys will try to win the game by themselves and aim to hit 5 run homers with no one on base or strike out the side with one pitch. They might need a bit of silver lining reminders to stay within the game. Smith (2x) and Rickard monster throws way off the mark and Givens seemed to overthrow with the same feeling. Shame it went sideways, because there really was a lot to like about this game. Martin twice ranging to far side of 2B and making throws to 1B and Ruiz with the diving stop were awesome. So yeah, add Ruiz to your list too I'm trying to keep it all Silver Lining...haha.
  4. But didn't people assume Grayson was an underslot guy last year and he signed about at slot? Until you sign them, seems a bit risky.
  5. so positional weighting, C would be even more important. How much would he even save? How different are their projections. It seems that C would still be the better choice.
  6. It was Witt for a long time first, so while were light years closer to the draft I'm not going think too deep until the pick is made. Then, like everything else, we will are read/post judgements now and over the next 10 years about the pick and the we could have had that guy talk. Just get better.
  7. Also new this year (over last year) A road win in Toronto and tied their longest winning streak of 4 (which were all at home....so longer road win streak).
  8. How often can you do that before they call you out for tanking?
  9. The money is paid and I think Elias will try and see for a year what happens. Keeping Davis will aid in the 2020 draft pick game, save service time for some. I also don't see the O's eating that much money yet.
  10. Tied for 29th really....or tied for 30th
  11. So for the Catcher rankings were listed 30th, but in the write up were #29....there we have a whole 0.2 WAR lead over OAK https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2019-positional-power-rankings-left-field/ Mancini gets us to #26 in LF https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2019-positional-power-rankings-center-field/ Mullins gets us to #23 in CF
  12. So I don't know the injury history of Kingery (or really the full info on the Hays injuries), but I think it would be a factor. If the injuries are typically unlikely to re-occur it would change it. The poster that mentioned a contract that would 'hamstring' us should take away the scary injury verbiage. Haha Ultimately, as others have mentioned, I would certainly consider it. I do wonder if that means he would be sent down to strengthen the teams negotiating power.
  13. So a potentially massive improvement and he could still get to about replacement level. That puts a bit more meat behind why some are so convinced he's done. I hope he can be something, but dang that's a huge hole to dig out of. I mean I knew it mostly, but didn't really want to focus on just how bad he was last year.
  14. So clearly SSSS (super small sample size). But if davis managed .717 and slightly better d, what kind of war would would be looking at? Replacement level or slightly above?
  15. Well, he did have good years here and not many players are still here from even 2 years ago. Heck even the thread is labeled as Crush despite a serious lack of crushing. Sometimes hope is all we have. Hope he goes crush again.
  16. So manager will probably be the main focus for assistants. Elias mentioned some front office hires may be early 2019. What does he focus on next? (Or is if FO guys and just taking his time to get there...?)
  17. Elias can't make all superstars for sure. I'm more hopeful of a guy like David, because it was once there. Beckham came from a stronger analytics team and it's been missing more than not. At least that's what I tell myself with the monster contract of one and the other that's easier removed....
  18. While the bat speed is a nice thing to hear, I'm really glad to see the leadership aspect. We seem to have a lot of quiet guys on the team and it'll be nice to see some player leadership. *not always things we see, but hopefully he can be a strong positive influence on things*
  19. Triple/double yesterday, HR/single today. 2 day cycle.
  20. So can we get the opening post updated as we get a list of players that have signed? Without a new thread, I think that makes @ISU94volunteer... if you can
  21. Does anyone have an idea of what other teams have? Clearly it mentions the a few "common" levels, but where does it compare to other areas. People also mention we have had a DR team for years, but do clubs have teams/leagues in other countries (like Venezuela). While we joke about signing a Chris Davis worth of 10k players, would there be some benefit to adding many players if it means adding full teams to develop in other countries?
  22. Thanks for this, I was wondering if there was a player limit. Not that they'll sign 850 10k players, but with multiple countries, I was curious how much they could spread things around (with or without Mesa really).
  23. Someone mentioned all players need to be told first or something. Maybe that's a hold up?
