  1. So draft picks not signed nets another next year draft right? Is that true for all picks or non competitive balance and supplemental picks? Meaning the dbacks could keep getting high draft pool dollars and take more chances with tough guys and not sign a few and try again next year?
  2. The time between picks in the first round, per MLB, is "three to four minutes." The rest of the first day, teams have one minute to pick. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2019-mlb-draft-10-things-to-know-as-baseballs-40-round-selection-process-gets-started/
  3. I thought it was 4 minutes for the first, this is close to 10.
  4. Current pace still means like 11pm for 2nd rounder. I won't make it to 3rd pick tonight if that holds steady. I don't have MLBN, is there a good site keeping up to date or streaming?
  5. Says pick 14 on ESPN, is that right or just them updating the page slow? We'd be at a 13 hour rate to get through 78 picks.
  6. Well, one was the Iron Man, so they’re suggesting we got cap I guess.
  7. This pick is the result of all of last years losing. While there is way more to this draft we won't know for years how this really turns out. So for that reason I'd imagine a LOT of pages of praise and negativity.
  8. We were all kids at some point that said dumb stuff to be funny. Kids now have the record displayed for the world to see. Advisors, parents, teams should have players clear things. While some things should be noted and/or players removed from draft boards for some things, I think helping them grow up and pre-emptively remove questionable things is ok too. Edit: to fix silly phone auto corrects
  9. I would imagine you can see a lot more college players on TV, so it would make sense you'd have a better idea about them, and they have a longer history to pull from. Either way, I'll hear the names today and look for your thoughts since they are far more developed than most (especially myself). Thanks for being a fan(atic).
  10. I wonder if bumping the Sox down in his table bumped the O's up. I'm pretty confident it's 2.1.
  11. Smith had a pretty nifty catch just across the line in foul territory. Considering the questions of his D lately, I think it's worthy
  12. The hype was given by fans and scouts. How does that have anything to do with him living up to his draft pick status. You bashing his failure to be a switch hitting Jesus doesn't really mean anything at all. Plus, as we learned in the documentary major leagues, jesus can't even hit a curve ball.
  13. Could it be a negotiation tactic on these guys to see if one would go far less?
  14. Even with good few months, I don't see the DFA pickups as being anything. Maybe if they have a solid year, and then next year, but there is nothing but SSS and Smith is a good example of why other teams won't offer much for them. I'd imagine they have far more value on this team than anything we'd be offered back.
  15. How are pies in the face on par with rooting for injuries?
  16. Rooting for DFA is fine, but the rooting for injury crap has got to go.
  17. My wife and I watch most games. She puts them on more times than not, so maybe she likes to see me suffer.... More times than not they have decent moments, and even a lead for a bit. The bullpen had really been the dagger, but I still enjoy some of the games.
  18. We didn't have a natural CF and his production offensively is at least on par with Rickard. Not sure why it's worrisome, especially on a last place team.
  19. 1 pitch, 1 474 foot HR. Not a bad start for Broxton.
  20. I'd be curious what would be a situation he didn't like. It's good he likes his coaches/teamates, but I'd imagine the atmosphere is better on a team fighting for the playoffs. There is always more to consider, but it's also a walk year. Would be be worth it to sit for a few months? Would he make even less next year if he pulled a move like that? It has a Adam Jones feel without the 10/5 level. Considering Givens has been up and down, he is likely our best trade asset as of 24MAY or at least likeliest to bring something back. I wonder if we didn't trade him if he'd agree to a lesser 1 year extension with a no-trade clause. I know he isn't a world beater, but he's better than a lot of 4th/5th types we've been running out here. Add a year at 5 million, add a no trade clause and have an innings eater for another year? It's not super ideal, but it's not like he's blocking 5 candidates for next years rotation. Not a huge $$ to change Elias 2020 payroll, so it could work for both sides. Clearly, it would add depend on how much he wants to stay.
  21. https://www.baltimoremagazine.com/section/sports/fancy-clancy-pilsner-to-debut-at-sliders-on-opening-day This guy...
  22. Thankfully, as a football fan as well, that draft is around my birthday each year. So I can just say, I don't want gifts just give me the TV.
  23. Reading something like this, ups my level of frustration if they don't go this route. Here's hoping they just KISS it and move on to next pick.
