  1. But it's an option.... to keep hi bat in the lineup and rotate him and others through the DH... ok.. question answered. Thanks.
  2. I understand, wouldn't that make someone(s) available to trade if we don't have the playing time for all of them moving forward? Assuming we get Otani of course.
  3. When he is not pitching he has to DH to play? So he would be our everyday DH except for the days he pitches? If so, doesn't that create a bit of a logjam with all the guys we've been using the DH to give playing time?
  4. I didn't see it that way. Just watched the replay. Ball is in glove and on the ground. As he applied weight to the glove hand to start to regain his balance it pops out. It still might not be a catch.. but the ground didn't cause the pop out to me.
  5. What is the rule on the Hicks play? Looked to me like he had it, hit the ground, still had it, then as he used his glove hand for leverage against the ground to try and get up the ball popped out.
  6. Thanks. I had the correct emotion., just the incorrect motive.
  7. 5 hits, and a victory. Gotta love it while it lasts.
  8. What a load of crap this is in general... I'm sure it has been expressed several times in the past... isn't the blackout rule to try and entice the local viewers to the game? I live 6 hours from the Atlanta Braves games.. yet I am blacked out. Just stupid. Good thing 1) I am an O's fan 2) I use a VPN so...
  9. I noticed Kjerstad playing 1b recently. I know it is a system preference to have multi-positional players.. but this could adjust who is available in a trade? Mayo?
  10. Could you look at some O's offensive stats say first 48 games or so and the last 48 games to see how much if any we have varied there?
  11. Well some of this might be subjective, but if you put their lineup against ours person for person there's more guys on their team I would take before guys on our team. I think RZNJ is exactly right, we're not getting much if any production from Cowser and Westburg. I think I looked at our last 25 games and 15 of them we have eight hits or less. Now we're fortunate to win some of those games because of some great pitching on our end, but again the playoffs is going to be the next level
  12. I don't think this is about 1 game as obviously you can be shut down at any given time. We have a trend of having 7 hits or less in a game more often than a team wanting to go deep into the playoffs would. Are we a better team than the Rays? I'd say no. Should we try to be?
  13. I suggested that we need a bat as well while most of the board focus is on pitching, which is also a need. Unless you just want to make the playoffs, you'd better find a way to win games when you "run into good pitching" because we'll run into a lot of it. .
  14. I've always thought luck is a BIG factor in baseball.. When you don't score runs, do you get a great pitching performance and opportunities to win When you have poor pitching performances do you get just enough hitting for opportunities to win A hitter goes 2-4 with 2 HR's in a game, they are both solo shots while the 2 outs were with runners in scoring position You can add this to your list.. We were not good against the Reds, Braves, Brewers, Cubs or Dodgers, Exhibit A
  15. I don't know when the Ravens deal was done, but interest rates are way up over the last year and a half and so could that play a role in what the MSA is able to offer?
  16. Ben is late to the party. I mentioned it here a week ago.
  17. RP is the priority A starter would be nice if it can be someone in the neighborhood of Stroman for the right price A bat like Goldschmidt would be a very nice get as well. Does anyone believe GM's use propaganda to affect cost of targets? If so, probably not looking for a bat comment by Elias isn't reliable.
  18. I understand and more or less agree but our offensive rank is not reflective of our play against playoff teams. Unless just making it there is enough.
  19. Lots of pitching expectations on this thread and others... does nobody think we need a bat?
  20. Looks like I was referring to Outman... his numbers aren't fabulous afterall.
  21. Didn't I just see a Rookie Dodger with fabulous numbers? *** Update*** I was snapped out of my trance and understand that's NL... thanks everyone.
  22. I have this tendency because I see things that are problematic and in that light winning games you should have become more important. I am primarily referencing the offence. While it looks good on the surface to score 5 - 7 runs in an inning, it doesn't look good at all to be no hit the rest of the game. Or winning games with 5 hits. 2 of the 3 wins vs the Marlins were 5 hits and last night after having 4 runs early, we had 7 hits for the game. We have been fortunate to have great starting pitching for quite a while now...
  23. I mentioned in a previous thread Cano's pitches are up much more often than when he was successful early on. His sinker isn't starting belt high and dropping out like it used to. He did have one game against the Marlins I think where everything looked like before. I wasn't sure if his arm slot is creating some issue.
