  1. Would like to see a foot race up the 1B line between the two.
  2. No way to tell and this is just a hunch, but I don’t see Soto aging well. From what hat I can see on Statcast, his outfield range is terrible and his speed is bad. It’s a good thing OBP ages fairly well, he’s going to draw a lot of walks in his career and finish with an OBP over .400. But I think in a few years he’ll be a 1B/DH type.
  3. Got all excited, then I saw it was preventing base stealing. Which is a bit more significant now after the rule changes but I’d be really excited if he was third at preventing baserunners instead.
  4. 9/9 61 Joe Carter, Fergie Jenkins, Mark Grace Ellis Burks, Luis Tiant, Jim Rice Rick Sutcliffe, Fernando Valenzuela, Steve Garvey
  5. I expect Bradish to be in line with what he did this year, maybe a tick better. IIRC, he had a bit of a slow start, I expect him to be able to iron out those wrinkles in 2024. I expect G-Rod to be more along the lines of what he was after his 2nd call up this year. Worrying about injury with him is fair, but I've resigned to the idea that they all break and most every guy that throws high 90s-100 MPH will have to have TJ at some point. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it'll be a miracle.
  6. Gray since I think he's the best pitcher of the group. At this stage in the game, I don't care about losing a draft pick.
  7. https://www.mlb.com/news/silver-slugger-award-winners-2023 No whining about Jonah Heim allowed. Gunnar got it for the utility position.
  8. Yup, I attribute it to baseball cards from back in the day, too.
  9. You don’t know that for sure.
  10. Yeah, it’s usually when they have a team like the Marlins or Rockies or Diamondbacks or something.
  11. Man, today's is all over the place. 9/9 for 193.
  12. The 1987 season wasn’t memorable. And yes, agreed. I want to see the Angels do well since Trout is in his waning years but they seem hell bent on not competing.
  13. Ron Washington, your new Angels manager.
  14. I'm completely comfortable not knowing Hyde's contract length and Ellias' contract length, too. Less handwringing for everyone around here. "OMG, Hyde's contract is up at the end of this year, MANAGER CANDIDATES???!?!?!??!?!" "Elias' contract is up at the end of the year, WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO RETAIN HIM?!?!?!" "Who are the top GM candidates for us if Elias leaves???????" Can you imagine the amount of wildcard threads about these two? No thanks.
  15. Anyway, I'm glad to see expectations tempered around here heading into this offseason. I agree that the Orioles SHOULD sign a starter or two (and good ones, I want Sonny Gray, for example) but I don't think that's going to happen. I also want to see more bullpen pieces added. I'm expecting another low key offseason with middling moves and some head scratchers.
  16. I should have slowed down and used Richie Ashburn for the Phillies .300 and Kruk for the Padres/Phillies. The only reason I remember Kruk having a .300 batting average is that he was playing for the White Sox and they were at Camden Yards. Kruk got a hit, walked off the field and retired after the game. That hit gave him a .300 career batting average on the nose. https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/John-Kruk/
  17. Kruk would have helped me out on Padres/Phillies, only realized it after I placed him in the Phillies .300 square. Might have had an easier time guessing a Phillies .300 hitter and putting Kruk in Padres/Phillies.
