  1. Thanks for @OnlyOneOriolefor stopping in and making this thread even funnier than it already was.
  2. The Irvin trade comp is an interesting one. He was good value, we didn't have to give up much for him. Still, what we gave up was a player that had some upside, some perhaps untapped potential. Mountcastle isn't that and he plays a position where it's not hard to find offense. O'Hearn is going to be met with some skepticism, people are going to think he might be a one year wonder. Norby and to a lesser extent, Stowers are guys that can be looked at with some upside. Hard to say what a package with any combination of those guys would return to us but it's also important to note that trading O'Hearn and/or Mountcastle isn't necessarily about the value of the return, it's also about the ability to promote Mayo to 1B quickly and easily. Anyway, I'd be alright with trading any of these guys, depending on what the return is.
  3. Yup, wanted Bassitt. Oh well, watch the next two years be terrible.
  4. That's right, I don't mind Westburg being more versatile it just doesn't seem like it should be a high priority.
  5. I agree. Seems like people want to trade prospects but at the same time it's like...NO, not THOSE prospects. We're in uncharted territory here, some don't seem to get it...yes, it's nice to have a lot of good prospects, a great farm system...but we can't keep all these guys.
  6. I don't see why she'd come here to be behind Elias. She did well in Miami, not sure why she'd want to be behind another GM somewhere else. She just made it clear that she wasn't being interested in being a #2 in Miami when they tried to hire a president of baseball operations over her. She'll take a lateral move or something with similar responsibilities and a fancier title. Ng just bet on herself and walked away from a pretty good job, she didn't do it to go backwards.
  7. I really don't find it that interesting, to be honest. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for all of the guessing/hypotheticals before the free agency, Hot Stove and the rest of the off-season. There's still baseball on, but it's fair that none of us are as interested since our team got bounced...but all of the what-ifs and trying to figure where these prospects are going to play and what free agents we should consider and what trades we should make aren't interesting to me at all. Not until some deals start going down and some rumors start flying, at least. To steal a page out of @Frobby's playbook, call me when the bullets start flying. It's also clear to me that some of these prospects and young players like Westburg are going to get traded. The gymnastics that are taking place into trying to squeeze Norby, Mayo, Ortiz, and Westburg into an infield where Henderson and Holliday are also plugged in is getting a bit silly considering the holes in the pitching staff that need to be addressed. Like I said, I don't find moving Westburg to the outfield interesting in the slightest. Not when Cowser's still unproven and Kjerstad looked decent during his short time in Baltimore, plus Mullins holding down CF until Bradford is ready. I mean, if Westburg ends up out there a little bit, fine. But I don't find that interesting. Let's get one thing clear though: The only reason he'd be considered for an outfield spot is because he's fast and athletic.
  8. Good pulls! I was disappointed to see Tigers/Dodgers so high.
  9. Cause he's kind of fast. I'm with you though, I don't really get it. But whatever.
  10. They’ll have a hard time topping that if they go with something else next year.
  11. I’ve gotta say, I’m already exhausted of the hand wringing in regards to where Jackson Holliday is going to end up standing on the diamond when on defense.
  12. Elias is a master of saying nothing but making you think he gave you a significant nugget to chew on. Part of me wants to watch this because I like him but ultimately it'll be a waste of time. What he says today has no bearing on what he does in the offseason.
  13. I’m fine with him getting a chance to start but I think he’ll end up in the bullpen. Hopefully he stays an asset no matter where he winds up.
  14. I'm confident that Cowser, Norby, Mayo, Holliday, Kjerstad and Ortiz will all be in Baltimore at some point next year if none of them are traded this offseason. As to when they arrive in Baltimore is anyone's guess. They've got offseason workouts to get through and Spring Training, too. I also really don't care when they arrive in Baltimore just as long as they do. Stowers is an afterthought. IMO, if Stowers is up in Baltimore next year, something is probably wrong.
  15. I think the best exercise, as always, is to pretend that the Orioles are going to trade for Mountcastle or Hays. What would you give up for Mountcastle or Hays? There's your answer as to what they're worth, probably.
