  1. I don’t understand the team apparel thing?
  2. I can see John being petty but not over this clip. It’s something else.
  3. I agree, none of this makes sense. We're not getting the full story here, I'm 100% convinced of that.
  4. Why are you talking about Buck and what he's done with the Mets as if it has anything to do with his candidacy for the Orioles Hall of Fame?
  5. Joe Altobelli isn't in the Orioles Hall of Fame and he won a World Series here. Your move.
  6. I said it was a wild thought...I didn't say I thought it was fact. But I'll say this about that: If you think Kevin Brown, someone who is 32 years old and is on the upswing of his career is interested in being the Orioles broadcaster for 20+ years and doesn't have aspirations past here, then you're being naive. Whether he's a jerk about it or not is a different story altogether. I think that he probably isn't, but that doesn't mean that this can't be a case of Kevin Brown having career aspirations past Baltimore and JA being a jerk about it.
  7. Correct. Kind of like a company who has an "unlimited vacation time" policy and then someone gets hired who wants to put that to the test. It is goofy. Wild thought: Kevin Brown is a bit of a jerk himself who is pissed at the Angelos family for not allowing him to take more national gigs in order to up his profile and make more of a name for himself. Nah...not possible.
  8. That's fine, seeing as Melanie Newman isn't the A1 broadcaster. She could take as many Peacock games and other assignments as she wants, that's fine.
  9. This is good info. I still don't think we're getting the whole story here, though, I don't think that statement was enough to get him suspended indefinitely. But picking up more national assignments sounds like something that's frowned upon.
  10. I know we're all just like we were 20 years ago.
  11. See, these are things I don't care about. I don't care about his political leanings at all or what he does with the Governor. I have no doubt in my mind that if JA's political leanings were a 180 from where they currently are, some people wouldn't have much of an issue with him...but since they are what they are, it makes him easier to dislike. And I'm not talking about you in particular but there has been remarks made about him over the years and how he leans politically, as if that's of any kind of importance to stewarding the Orioles franchise. I don't care if he wants to talk to the media or doesn't want to talk to the media. I will say I don't think he's great with the media but if he wants to put his foot in his mouth every so often, that's fine. In regards to having a dust-up with Kevin Brown, I don't believe we're getting the full story here.
  12. Hired Kevin Brown too, though? But we can agree to disagree. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a JA fan. I think he's probably a bit of a jerk but he's not only hired Elias, it seems as if he's given Elias reign to do whatever he wants to right the direction of the franchise. I don't think he's gotten in the way. And I know that could spark off a giant debate about whether or not Elias is allowed to spend money...people are going to act like they know for sure when they really don't. I'm probably not remembering some things but all I know for sure is that JA went media silent there for a few years after hiring Elias. He had that dust up with Connolly earlier before the season started and that rambling mess of an impromptu media conference in Spring Training. He's not media savvy and I don't hold that against him. And fans on this board and elsewhere damned him for being inaccessible to the media...and then when he was, they damned him for what he had to say. But hiring Elias, if that's the one thing he did right, that's enough for me to overlook anything else I've forgotten about him and haven't mentioned here.
  13. Since I’m curious, I checked out Margaret Valentine’s music on Apple Music. This is the soundtrack to a coma. And I like some country music.
  14. Well if we're comparing him to Jim Hunter, it's no question. I think Brown is pretty average, I fail to see what makes him a darling to some around here.
  15. Well if it is true, can you provide some more color to it? What didn't Angelos like? Because it's a pretty insignificant comment.
  16. Count me in as not buying it. Look, I get it. Everyone hates John Angelos for the sins of his father, mostly. It's not hard to paint him as a thin skinned idiot who only cares about money...in fact, it's a layup. And quite frankly, I'm not sure why any of that, if true, matters. I'm also not trying be an Angelos Apologist either when I say that, but whatever John has done (or hasn't done) pales in comparison to whatever PGA has done to tarnish this franchise. But suspending Brown -who I'm admittedly not a fan of- for a comment like this doesn't make sense. It has nothing to do with Angelos himself, it only serves to show how well the team has come along in the previous two years.
  17. In regards to WC's hyperventilating opening post, I'm not worried about Elias leaving anytime soon. There's been no grumbling reported about him not getting along with Angelos, there's been no reporting of him trying to go to another team like DD did with Toronto. I'm not sure what the Orioles "biggest problem" is as this team currently sits in first place with the best record in the league. If I had to say, I'm assuming it's the bullpen. If Elias goes, he goes. That doesn't mean this organization will start to crumble away. This is hand wringing of the highest order and I will not participate.
  18. Yeah, I would. I mean, I'm invested in Adley, Gunnar, Westburg, Cowser, Ortiz, Mayo, Bradish, Basallo, etc. Where they play is really of no consequence to me. It would suck to see Camden Yards empty...I'd still go to watch whatever team fills that stadium maybe once a summer because I'd want to show it to my kid, but other than that I really don't care. Yankees merch, especially the hat, is bigger than baseball. It's iconic and cultural. People are still going to by Yankees hats no matter what place they're in.
  19. Waiting for @Picklesto come back and explain why timing a run off a highlight clip is perfectly acceptable because he said so.
